How many of those people who start a thread or post a comment and drop links are the owners/staff of a company trying to drive traffic to their sites to try and gain sales versus members sharing links to articles, products, or videos to help other members or share information?
The same applies to the people who start a thread just to drive site traffic to their YouTube channels in order to try and gain more followers. That's spam as well.
One is posting/promoting for financial gain, and the other isn't.

Vital's audience/traffic wasn't built overnight. There's a value associated to it and that's why companies pay to advertise here. Spamming/Not compensating Vital for that audience is not fair to them or their advertising partners.
Those platforms need content creators to create traffic: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube…because they do not create original content.

On one hand it would be pretty easy for companies to create an email and username so they could pump up their product as covert organic leads. If they thought it was worth their time they would do it, maybe they do?
On the same hand, I'd much rather have the company/person own their identity because it's transparent and opens up discussion regarding their brand and products.

I would think the forum itself creates quite a bit of traffic. Take this thread for example. People come to the forum to get the latest news, rumors, information on various topics related to moto.
Links are posted here quite a bit, from gofund to videos from other content creators. Spamming is one thing, but the occasional link from a well established member is another.
How about a promoter posting information about their upcoming race? Is that spam?
