Walking a bike on the street.

Hi,

I was going to walk my bike down to a little riding spot where I see people riding their dirt bikes (not positive it is a legal riding spot but I used to jump my mountain bike down there all of the time and there were kids riding their dirt bikes) So I am just wondering if the cops would get mad that I am walking the bike on the side of the road. It is mostly neighborhood roads and then a 2 lane road you have to cross. It is not operation on street (with engine off) but I just wanted to see what you guys thought. I saw another kid walking is bike back to his house because he said it ran out of gas.

Just tell me what you think,

I live in Utah by the way.

When I was a kid I used to ride my KX 80 through the subdivision where I lived to where we rode . One day a guy comes running out with a couple of 2 by 4s nailed together threatening to clean me off my bike . He was screaming at me saying I was going to run over his kids. I walked the bike past his house after that lol . Sorry this just made me think of that story.

I used to have this douche officer doofy at the end of our street 100 yards from an empty lot we all used to ride at. he hollared at me a few times about riding my bike there. Once he threatened to impound my bike and my parents would have to pay to get it out yatta yatta yatta. Told me I had to push my bike there so I assume thats perfectly legit.

OK, I have to agree that this is getting ridiculous. Please try and post with a bit more substance.

The answer to your question is just as easy as typing it here: call your local police department and ask THEM!

When I lived in NC as a kid, I pushed my bike to a lot of riding spots with no problems at all. However when I lived in R.I. a friend of mine was pushing his dirtbike down the street, and it was impounded, he was fined for having an unregistered/ uninsured motor vehicle on a state maintained road, or something along those lines. Just double check with your local govt, I would doubt its a huge issue in Utah though.

as long as you're not pushing it out in the street, you are fine. It's just like pushing a bicycle. perfectly legal. Cops should be cool since you are respecting your neighbors and the laws by not ripping wheelies down the street.
