I never realized how much the 'standard' modus operandi of phpBB, snitz, UBB, etc, added to my whole online experience. Theoretically Aaron's efforts (which have been heroic and I appreciate because I am a programmer at heart), wrapped in the whole VMX vibe should make not too much difference. But this new deal just seems really bland, flat and uninspiring. Maybe that's just on me, but I'm feeling a real drop-off in horsepower. The best metaphor I can come up with is it runs like a bandit on top, but has this maddening bawahhh bog on the jump faces.

X2 to most of that.. Somehow this just isn't the same place.
Maybe it won't ever be MotoDrive again. But I hope it does return to the old home feel.

A few key fixes to the BB machinery and it won't be much different.

A "view your posts" button would be great, search, etc.

Amen to that!!! I would also like the "new content" indicators on the side!

Looks great so far though.

Hey Aplman, heading over to Wenatchee tomorrow! Weather looks good! I need to soak up some sun bad.

Supposed to be good tomorrow, then GREAT on Sunday.........

Tomorrow is the Ridge to River race, but it's been so cold up in the mountains that the snow melt hasn't really kicked in to the kayak leg got cancelled.

What are you doing in the 'Natch?

First camp trip of the spring. Gotta heal a separated collar bone, so camping it is. Heading to Lincoln Rock. Would have headed over there today, but couldn't get the trailer "Unwinterized" in time after work.

Love it over there. Hope to retire there some day.

Aaron.

You might have waited too long to get that retirement home! The prices over here got stupid over the last few years. Especially anything waterfront, acreage, etc.

Do you boat upriver from Lincoln Rock?

About the most we do is rent ski's or bring my buddy's ski boat. If I try to add to the 3 bikes in the garage and the RV, I'll never be able to retire! I really enjoy just hanging out over there in the summer, love the heat. I was born and raised in Eastern Wa, wasn't till college that I became web footed.

I used to ride over there quite a bit, at Mad River, Taneum, Miller Peak area in Teannaway, but now just stick to track riding. Spend lots of time in the winter over at Toes.

Our areas over here are really dwinding. Had 3 indoors, now we have to roll all the way to Portland to ride when its really wet. Makes it that much more appealing to head to Toes.

Toes/Steve is a great guy, I haven't been to his track in a few years, though.

Ask him about the bachelor party two summers ago up on Lake Roosevelt! Two big houseboats, 4th of July weekend. One of his riding buddies has a track just a few miles north of Lincoln Rock in Orondo, you should ask him about it, might work into another good place to ride.....

Thanks for the info. I'll have to ask Steve next time we head over there. It's been super dry the last couple of times over there.

Take care, have a good weekend.

We rode all day at Moses, staying at the Ramada right now, going back to ride all day tomorrow, too.

I'm actually pretty stoked with the progress that Aaron made in just over a week here. I haven't provided a blow-by-blow listing of the changes and features (some are obvious, and some aren't.

I love the line from the old "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" where Butch says, "He'll feel better after we've robbed a few banks." Well, everyone will feel much better after we've had a few Big Lenny flame-outs, some righteous indignation about the role of Youthstream in US motocross, and a few gang fights over unleaded gas. Everyone will start feeling right at home. The reason things feel a little flat is we're stuck in this preseason supercross crappola and there's nothing going on that's worth fighting over.

The lack of horsepower isn't (IMO) coming from the "bike"; it's really "rider" talent that's lacking. The admins here have neutered the board so much that all we're left with are the politically correct, polite "riders". We used to have people around who weren't afraid to take someone out if they couldn't make a clean pass.

The reason it is bland is because it is Mac based.

I think we are headed to Moses in just a little while. Both my sons might make their BMX race "debuts" today, but my oldest (12) has some nagging leg soreness from track so we aren't sure yet. Have about an hour to decide......

I think it sucks that you 86'd all of the small, grassroots companies that sponsored motodrive. There are so many message boards to choose from, and the reason I joined motodrive was because I personally know the dudes who own one of the companies that used to sponsor Motodrive. Now the only sponsor I see is ESPN??

Don't get me wrong, i would've takne the bigger sponsor money too, but why not keep all the old, smaller companies that that sponsored Motodrive and put them in that big, blank space at the top of the page?
