And this was a ritual out of necessity, I always had to force myself to eat a breakfast the day of. Nerves never left me with much appetite until practice was out of the way.

I can honestly say I have no superstitious habits before riding. Although I never call it quits and then say one more ride. If I'm done, I'm done. Not for any superstitious reasons, but simply because I know my minds not in it and I've lost focus at that point.
Also, I've seen studies about athletes who won't have sex before a game/race/whatever, and they found that people that did have sex the night before or day of, showed no decline in performance, and many actually showed an increase in performance in whatever sport it is that they're involved in.
When I go to a new track or before a race, I get a little nervous and have to poo before riding. I've done that so much that I feel like it works in reverse now too. Sometimes I just have to poop while not doing anything moto related and all of a sudden I feel nervous, haha.
Also after geared up and bike is warming up, I always say a prayer.
Sit around telling your riding buds how in all the years of racing you've never got hurt apart from the odd sprain or bruise and then go out on the track.
I did this last Friday then said " Hey we should probably stop talking about this shit" and went out on the track..........
5 days in hospital , 4 busted ribs, broken collarbone, punctured lung and losing 2 units of blood later I honestly believe it's somewhat of a jinx .
I did that in 08 and ended up in a coma from a severe concussion with brain bleeds, dislocated hip and 4 broken ribs.
Rule 2: Have fun!
