I hadn’t heard about trying to get land back from previous administrations. Is the idea that Ukraine gets parts of Crimea back? In exchange for what? I heard Putin was eyeing Donbas? I need to get up to speed.
Ukraine will probably have to give up some area, and Crimea and Donbas are probably top of the list,
it will be a success if a deal is done, ideally, both sides will not be completely happy, but the devil will be in the detail and how it can/ will be enforced,
It will be a success if the war ends...I don't care who gets what land...PEACE...is a win! Stopping people from dying, is a win...putting a stop to the destruction of cities and infrastructure is a win...Anything above that is icing on the cake.
All in all, it has bugged Trump from day one. He’s been pretty open about that. Putin is a stubborn b-stard. Trump is smart to stay out of it as much as possible and to try and reason with him and Zelensky.
Let’s face it: both parties have a long list of policy failures. Yes, Putin invaded under Biden, but set the stage during Trump’s first term. Just as 9/11 occurred on Bush’s watch but was orchestrated under Clinton. Of course, Bush used momentum from the war with Al Quaida to invade Iraq, which in retrospect was not a great maneuver.
If Trump can secure a peaceful end to the war in Ukraine, he deserves all the credit. The guy wants to end the fighting for a variety of reasons, which is irrelevant. End the war, win the Nobel Peace Prize. EOM…

In my view Hamas holds the key to peace in Gaza, if they would agree to a complete cessation of hostilities against the Israeli state, Israel would have no choice to stop their advances in Gaza. As long as Hamas continues to fight, Israel will continue to push as far as they can under the guise of defense.
