Holeshot device

I don't ride anymore, but I was wondering.

Does the Holeshot device really make a diffence to the average mx racer?

Cheers

I’ve run the holeshot device…front and rear…via the BB4 set-up at KTM…

They work.

Yes they make a huge difference and I fucking hate them. Pain in the ass to install, pain in the ass to set, cost $100, and guess what, once we all have them, it’s all equal again so you might as well not have them…

I,d like to hear more about the rear .  I,ve heard Hick,s talking about it that it was a game changer too.   On a sand start the front Tamer works great . They make them for old bikes .  You can dump the clutch more than slip in 2nd. To get a good jump  with much less wheely .   In front of gate it unlocked from the drop into the long ruts .  And I hv mine set lower.  1 start in front of gate had a sharp rt hook in it .  I had the beat or blast him , a 250f Ktm past that & did. The start is 90% of the race if your not in the front group . You get taken out in 55+ or tangled up with bikes . Once you get going there a 1/3 of a lap lead on ya. Sprint to catch up & crash , race is over.  I was the only rider of 450-500 to miss Fri practice. Fri night wayy ovr watered like 14 ponds on the tacky sand . Multiple ruts into a corner but they come together into 1.  I clutch in & locked up the brakes aprox 40 times other option was take them out hard .

Yeah but at least everyone is funneling into the first corner at a much higher rate of speed. (Sarcasm)

Last year I finally got one. Seems to be a big advantage to keep the front down.

First race with it, I got beat to the first turn by a guy without a device, weighing about 300lb,  on a 13 year old bike.

Well, obviously, he had less wheel-spin! 🤣

Talent with appropriate use of clutch and throttle to keep the front end down used to be the ultimate holeshot device.
