Lol couldn't get it out of my mind and now I've set out on my own quest to score a bike similar to my first MXer, a 1995 CR125, and build it into a replica of the factory bikes of that year.
Awesome work and if this guy is still out there please post some more pictures and videos! There are a lot of guys that would love to see it run at least up and down the street haha. And BTW I know there are a lot of lurkers checking out this thread. It's like the #1 hit on GOOGLE for a couple different searches!
I'm curious. Do you know if the later 125's used the longer 250 subframes and swing arms?? Seems like something cool to do with my '95 once I get going with it.

I will go for a HGS instead.
Pat, have you ridden the bike yet?
I haven't ridden the bike. I keep it inside. My dad made a really nice wooden stand for it and it just sits there looking pretty.
I am currently building a 1990 JMB replica cr125 also,
can you confirm what year rear end parts you fitted to your bike,
ie,
1990 250 swingarm.
1990 cr 250 complete pro link system???
----------------------------------------------------------
or just the 1990 swingarm??
------------------------------------------
as I have fitted the complete rear end of the 1990 cr 250,
and the shock is now laying on a steeper angle to yours,
any advice greatly appreciated,
Max
after checking, I am sure my rear end is from a 1991 cr250,
and checking the oem parts list, the 90-91 rear end is slightly different!
so there may be why my unit is not sitting the same as your bike

We're currently displaying only a reduced-size photo (similar to what you'd find in Google Images). We'd like to ask for your permission to publish the original full-size image with your build listing.
If anyone would like to have a build of their own listed, just send me a message with a link to the build thread and we'll take care of the rest.

Well I finally took this thing out to the track for some laps. It had been sitting ever since I finished the build way back when. Crazy how time flies. I was 19 or 20 when I started this build and I’m 36 now!
Anyway, I replaced a couple leaky gaskets, changed the oil, topped off the coolant, replaced a disintegrated air filter, put some C12 in the tank, and it fired up after a couple kicks!
I’m way out of practice riding 125s and it definitely needs some carb/jetting work, but it was pretty cool to ride it! It’s like a little time capsule in more than a few ways for me, so it was a cool experience. And it even offered a nice bit of closure on what was a really fun project for me.
That said, I think I’m ready for the next one! I’m interested in finding a good home for this one if anybody might be looking to add a new (old) bike to their stables. Full disclosure, I did discover a couple more leaky gaskets after the ride that would need to be replaced. But otherwise, she’s in really good shape! I think I have a few parts in storage for it as well, like a complete frame, a few OEM bolts, some plastics, and maybe a few other bits. If you’re interested, let me know!
If you followed this build back in the day, thanks so much! It was a lot of fun and I have a ton of good memories from it. Some people were really nice and helped me with old magazine articles, parts, and knowledge. This was a bit early in terms of ‘90s bike builds and the resources available on the internet, so everyone’s help and encouragement was precious and much appreciated. Thanks for joining me on the journey!
Great to see that you finally took it for a spin! I remember your build very well, it inspired me to build this bike.
