Cannot imagine what a run like this must feel like. Crazy fast....
That's total lunacy. I remember when Kenny Bernstein broke 300 in the 1/4 and how big a deal it was at the time. Now 343 in 1000 feet? Fucking bonkers to think what that run feels like in the car.
That’s impressive and all but I bet her mpg is abysmal.
What, 1,000'/5 gallons? Not terrible.
They're dual fuel, so she'd have a little alcohol left. 🤣
HELL YEAH !!!
300 Was the Shit not that long ago...

300 was Milestone in quarter mile... could probably get close to 360mph now if still running that distance, 4.2 or so ET..... insane.....
They slowed the sport down and it's still doing OK, just saying......
Just think if they were still going a 1/4 mile still.
Crazy speed for sure.
Heard not that long ago that Bandimere just bought some land to build a new facility
A funny car hit 340 today at Sonoma, 2nd fastest funny car top speed ever. Cool damp air at sea level, good conditions for power. Even if your not a drag racing fan per say, you have got to see it 1x in person, and get as close to the track as you can!!!
Sneaking up on half the speed of sound.
She went 341 mph at Charlotte earlier this year too.
Imagine hitting 400 in a 1/4 mile....wtf.
The interview with Dave Grubnic, her crew chief was interesting. He said the NHRA has a rev-limiter rule, and it pulls 20 degrees of timing out a second, implying that the engine should destroy itself, but the nitromethane fuel is unpredictable.
I havent watched nhra in forever. So she broke the all time record for the 1/8th mile? Or she beat the all time speed record regardless of 1/4 or 1/8th mile? In other words she beat the old times in half the track? If so thats freaking bonkers!!!
NHRA has run 1000 feet for years now, so longer than 1/8 but less than 1/4 mile. Fastest speed when they still ran 1/4 was 337 so yep she broke speed record over shorter distance.
Those clutches/tires always amazed me at getting that crazy HP to the ground for those runs !
I was in the process of purchasing a Matco Franchise about 12 years ago (fell through) and was a guest of Antron Brown and Schumacher Racing. I was fortunate enough to get starting line passes; the power of those rocket ships is hard to comprehend. I have to admit that it was borderline frightening when they dropped the hammer 10 feet from you. Later in the day I checked out the view from the big end and the speed was unreal.
She also broke the 1/8 mile record on the way. 305mph @ 2.9s to the 1/8. Absolutely insane.
It’s insane how fast the top fuel and the Funnies go now on a shorted track. Wonder what the speeds would Be if it was the old quarter mile.
The way I understand it, is they really wouldn't go much faster to the 1/4 because they would essentially run out of "gear". These cars don't run a transmission, they run a clutch that will slip until the clutch plates basically weld themselves together creating a locked-up 1:1 gear ratio. Happens around mid-run and at that point the only variables that keep the car accelerating are RPM and tire diameter growth. So if they tried to go 1/4 with a 1000ft tune the engine would likely blow up shortly after 1000ft... Or if they adjusted the clutch and tune for 1/4 mile they would likely hit about the same speed, just delaying the lock up until further down the track.
I could be completely wrong, but that's the way I've always understood it.
Excellent explanation and it totally makes sense. 👍🏻💯
