The rules should at least be made "fair" - I think we all agree there.

And by fair I mean us two stroke die hards still think it's unfair but at least we realize its better than nothing.

150cc against 250f.

300cc against 450f.

No regulations on how to achieve that displacement.

Finally made it back from a couple of days off. As you well know, the petition is up to 2003 signatures. I will have a follow up proposal this week and will share it with everyone here.

Apparently, the word of the petition is spreading. Word has it that Davey Coombs is definitely not for it and has said that there is no way this will happen, and that no one in the pro pits wants the two strokes back. But this is only rumor about the pro pits, since several of the pro mechanics and riders ride two strokes and want to see this succeed. It was also rumored that James Stewart and Ricky Carmichael were going to sign it.

Well, I guess its no surprise that DC wouldn't be for it. We knew this would be a fight. Either way, the mission is still the same. The petition is only going to go up and the economy and the race team budgets will continue to go down. This will win out eventually.

I should have some news and the follow up this week. Here's the link:

Newman your awesome, DC only takes Honda's money. You know what we'll be interesting. If KTM becomes a huge player in America like it looks like they will. Maybe they will sponsor a the 150 series.

Before the internet and these boards I maintained the illusion that motorcycle people were some of the best people in the world.

After about 10 years of participating on these boards I am confident that I was wrong. Some of the best people in the world are into motorcycles, but we have as great a proportion of assholes as the general population, if not a greater proportion. Sad, but true, as several responses in this thread bear out.
I have a theory on this....

There is nothing like a disaster to bring people together, to bring the best out of people. Motorcycle racing is an endless disaster.

Just get SX and all five factories and all the teams that have invested in four-strokes to make the switch too. That's where I lost steam on that mountain. I can take the cancer letters, and people like you who pile this all on me. I was a Cycle News stringer in 1997, not the AMA. And right now, I only work on the 12 outdoor nationals, which utilize an AMA rulebook. There is also a SX series you know. I can't quite change that all on my own, and most of the professional racing establishment do not want to change right now either. But no one asks or blames them, just me. And that's what's disappointing, MotoGuido.

And welcome to Vital.

Point made. I won't pile it on you as others have then. The guy pointed out that my post read like I was pointing the finger at you personally so I edited it because that wasn't the intention. I think most people don't know where to go with it! This fellow with his petition is at least trying to go in the right direction.

Since you are the only one with any position in the industry that seems to respond, and I we appreciate your willingness to do so, to these inquiries then I wouldn't know who exactly to address the conversation toward at the AMA.

Great point! The AMA altered the rules to allow stone age 4-stroke technology to come back from the dead and dominate in 1997. And now you think the idea of bringing back 2-strokes is some sort of flash-back-to-the-future movie parody!

Ironic isn't it.

MotoGuido, your participation in some of the other threads is pretty good. But for the guys here who are trying to pile on DC about the two-stroke stuff, I think you're misguided at best.

I'm curious if he hopped on the 250smoker and raced against RV at the Nations the year he dominated against the likes of RC and the worlds best on 450F's?

Too bad someone with some money (counts me out) and pull (counts me out again) can't start a new mano-a-mano series (125cc class, 250cc class, and an open class). Even if the biggest names wouldn't ride it I would rather spend my spectator admission money on that. Who cares if KTM are the only bikes out there. That would be their reward for sticking with the smoker. If others want to play then they can build a bike and enter.

Hear here!

If there was even some money in it, big enough names would race it. Besides the cool kids, some name brand
fast guys dont get paid much.

I'd think KTM would have interest in running a two stroke bike IF their was an equitable performance spec to allow them to compete fairly with the four strokes. Their the only manufacturer that has expressed publicly their intent to continue two stroke development and are making yearly updates to them. I don't see how any factory sponsered pro's riding Japanese brands would be allowed to ride two strokes as those manufacturer's don't appear to want to support them any longer. At this time privateer pro's could run Yamaha's or KTM's I guess.

Ok Admin, I know you are seeing this. Listen, first let me apologize for the events that happened several weeks past. I don't know exactly what happened. I have a pretty good idea, but I wasn't able to confirm anyone in my office that started a thread from the computers we use. We are in law enforcement and use several computers for processing. There have been officers here from other offices and we have talked about 2-strokes and what is going on. Most everybody have returned to their permanent stations with the FY end. I have talked to a few, but people have been a pretty defensive, and I don't know who Ralph Jones is. I don't know any of the officers by that name. Even so, I have taken measures to make sure that I know who is processing on these computers and I been a little more reserved with who I mention stuff to. At any rate, I don't blame Vital for calling out what appeared to be me posting under another user. I wish I had a better explanation for what happened, but I don't have it. Thanks again, and keep up the good work.
