Do we really need to continue this trend ?

Let the guy's race where they want and can get paid to do and just enjoy it for what it is.

Depends if they're a threat to win outdoors or not. I don't see anyone here freaking out about Hart and Huntington not doing outdoors.

Yes...as in yes it is mandatory to hate on SX only pansies. How dare they work part time when we have to work full time. (insert sarcasm tag here)

All kidding aside, more power to them, but it irritates me to only get to see the best guys (I.E. any pro) race part of the time. It would be nice if we could see all the guys race all the time.

Not mandatory, but it's easy and almost logical to do.

I don't know about the word"hate" but I do have a lot more respect for riders that are in there prime doing the outdoor series. I understand why riders like Kdub want to make the most of what little time they have left in the sport. If the rider is young and can get sponsered then they should be racing the outdoors. IMO

Nope.. The ones that "HATE" are the ones that are jealous!.. If i was a top pro and had the choice of a sx only contract i would sign it in a heart beat.

I'm disappointed in the trend but as far as hating , no I don't think so. Unfortunately we will probably see more teams go this route because thats where the money is and if a rider has an opportunity to ride for that team they should take it.

For most people I don't care what or when they ride. But for guys like Stewart or Reed to sign SX only contracts is ridiculous.

As the two biggest names in the sport (pre-Dungey) the fact that we don't get to see them battle each other at the true core of our sport. They owe it to the FANS to be out there. Then whenever a title contender signs a SX contract people always say "what if?"

Sure, they can do whatever they want, but to me it comes across as a selfish toward the true fans that sit out in 100 degree weather to watch the best riders in the world battle it out for 2 motos.

I think people hate when young kids sign SX only. Guys like McGrath and Windham have earned the fan's respect enough, that the fans are supportive.

Then you must all hate MC, right?

Next question, would all of the sx only haters hate on Dungey if he decided to ride sx in hopes of beating MC's seven championships

If a racer can pull down a lucrative SX only contract then more power to him. If more race teams commit to SX only races it may become more of a trend for more younger racers to jump on a competitive race team even if it limits them from racing the MX series.

I'm going to disagree with you a bit here... With the direction this sport is going I would argue that MX has gotten quite a bit more valuable in the sponsors eye's, Live TV ect...
I don't think more teams are heading in the SX only direction, In fact teams like L&M and H&H have recently stated that there is interest in doing a part time MX schedule....

As far as individual riders racing SX only or a SX and a part time MX schedule ala Kevin Windham, I think a rider should pay his dues in the outdoors before running to an SX only schedule... Kevin Windham can race an SX only schedule without critizism because he put 10+ years in to the outdoors and has won the respect of fans...

What it really comes down to is, if you are still considered a tite threat and choose not to race your goig to get critizised, either deal with it while you enjoy the summer off or go bust your ass and race the nationals...

All of course IMO

That's funny....... Dungey wins one sx title and now your bringing him up in the same sentance as MC. He has at least a few more championships to win before your question can even be taken seriously....

On the flip side, he has to lose a few before you count him out also.

The glass is half full also.

Your point would be valid had Iceman446 not included the words "in hopes", the way it stands, you are just a dickhead.Tongue

In no way am I saying he is in the same league as MC because he isn't, but if be wants to even try and beat his record he would need to go to SX only...that is why I asked would you sx haters hate on him.

no reason at all to hate anyone that wants and signs up to do one series.
unless.... that rider constantly leads his fans to believe he will/wants to do a series he didnt sign up for.
otherwise,its all good.

I don't remember MC going SX only after is rookie year in the premier class.... my point being is your point may be valid in a few years but certanly is not now. Your statement first makes it sound like Dungey is on MC's heals and secondly like MC never busted his ass in an outdoor season....

Its our own selfishness that wants to see the best riders ride all year long. However in just about every other professional sport the season is half the year. Baseball starts in April and ends in Oct. They have 5 months off. Football is Aug through Jan. Hockey Basketball is Oct-May. We are asking these guys to race Jan-Sept. That gives them 3 months off and we know they are training at least 2 of those 3 if not all. Bikes beat you up. When other athletes are training its usually without the beating before the season. I want to see the best, but its unfair to subject them to such a long season or hate on them if they decide not to.

Well if you want to get technical...Dungey is better then MC so far, if you compare their rookie seasons. But that doesn't mean he will be better at the end of his career. My point is, if he wants to have a shot at 7 titles, sx only is his ONLY option IMO.
