I had to get some contact cleaner earlier today and was kind of surprised to see the new 350 on display at the shop. It was almost like a spotlight was on it. It along with the 2011 450 were just chillin under a ktm e-z up sitting there on stands looking damn good while the new crf 450 was chilling next to the 2010 450 in the corner of the shop.
At first glance it totally looks like a bike I could rock no doubt. When I sat on it it felt like a honda, except for the wierd cross bar pad. Oh and the front fender looks like and ass or something to that shape.
I want one now bad. Anyone buy one or ride one yet??

Best chassis I have rode on a stock bike to date.

I ride A BTW - nothing I have ridden comes anywhere close FOR ME out of the box. Only bike that I feel had similar good qualities but many much worse qualities is the new honda 450's.

Motor is exactly what it is, a 350 - if you are a point and shoot rider - definitely not for you.

Only time will tell on reliability and what not, and I dont own one - but it completely changed my mind on KTM.

I rode all of the new KTMs at a dealer intro, The 350 was exactly what it's supposed to be. It rides like a fast 250f that you don't have to work as hard on. KTM seemed to spend a lot more time on it than the other bikes especially the suspension- I've always ridden Hondas and never thought I"d consider a KTM but this one changed my mind.

My friend rode one and said it was the best bike he's ever ridden.

"Bottom end like a 250f but pulllls as fast as a 450 on top end"

There was never any reason to abandon the steel chassis. Steel is inherently a better material for MX as it offers both strength and flex. I'm glad KTM kept up the development into what it is today.

I rode one on a demo day. Didn't like it. But, that's just my opinion.

when i test ride it i notice:
-foot pegs are high and quite small
-handlebar is low and bends too much for my opinion
-thorttle response are very good
-motor was agressive (maybe becouse i ride 250f)
-in saddle there is not so big hole than 2010 has
-linkage feels better in small whoops

I liked it for a 4stroke... but a good 250 2stroke has the same power with less weight and more " flickability" IMO its a diesel 250 2t that understeers like all KTMs

I burned some laps on my friends 350. seems as fast as my 450 on top, just not on the bottom. It felt to me that it cornered easier and didnt cause as much fatiuge as riding the 450,but I wont be selling my 450 anytime soon

Yeah, I mean to be fair the other manufactures have gotten the aliminium working quite well now. But I just don't see the point in chasing it because aluminium doesn't really offer any advantages. KTM's frame is already the lightest and as I said, it isn't easy matching the inherent qualities of steel, which is what they always end up trying to do anyway.

If they do make a move towards aluminium it'll for the same reason they went to a linkage... Public perception.

I reckon they'll release the fuel injection for the 450 next year, as Nagl was testing it in Leirop and it looked good. Haven't ridden one but Iv'e seen the 350 in action and it didn't look like it lacked anything out on the track. Having said that, the guy riding it was quite good, so it's hard to judge. If you're a big guy it isn't likely to work that well imo. For obvious reasons.

X2. I just got my new 2011 KTM 250 two smoker. Going to try her out today. Racing on Sunday (on my 2009 200). The quality on the 2011 KTMs is exceptional. I can't stop drooling at my new scooter!

I went for the XC model, but I have heard that the difference between the XC and SX models this year is not very big. I went for it because it has a six speed and comes with the big tank (I race expert in cross country/hare scrambles, big tank is a necessity!). The electric start is just a bonus! I will be sure to post a ride review next week!
