Had to have his stomach pumped after eating so much crow.

Plus he's broke from having to buy so many beers for his fellow scribes.

"Ryan Dungey rode an amazing Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations last weekend. Going 1-1 on Sunday he was the man of the day and showed the World that he is the fastest man on the planet for the time being (a guy called Cairoli will be hunting for his ass in 2011). "

MXlarge: You are considered the fastest rider in the World at the moment, how can you maintain that?

Dungey: Really, I just try and stick to it, keep trying to press forward and not try and settle, it’s so easy to settle, but I just want to keep pushing and keep expecting more from myself.

http://www.mxlarge.com/interview/4250-ryan-dungey-interview-the-fastest…

"Ryan Dungey.

How can this guy not be number one? Going 1-1 after tasting defeat at the hands of World Motocross Champion Antonio Cairoli on Saturday Dungey showed just how tough he is by surviving a classic battle with Cairoli in Sunday opening moto and then blowing the field away with a win in the last moto of the weekend. Not only a super nice guy, but a tough competitor who now stands at the very top of the World rankings.

Team USA

What an amazing group of young men. Not only did they show their speed was good enough to take the trophy, but they also showed class in victory. All three riders sat around in the press room after the event doing interviews and posing for photos. Around an hour after giving every journalist what they wanted the boys went and partied. Respect to the best in the World."

Geoff was actually a lot of fun to be around when I saw him, and he was working hard all weekend, just like our own Guy B. Or Cox or any other pressroom newsmen. But he was very complimentary of our guys (and some very fast Euros too, and Metty). He was so busy that I never got a chance to ask him if he noticed the scoreboard!

But we should be careful here with the bragging, because if Germany gets one more fast guy, if Philippaerts doesn't get hurt, if Pourcel shows up, if Dean Wilson decides he's now from Belgium, well, we could be in real trouble again next year.... And I don't even want to think about Lierop in 2012!

Time to just out that Southeast National at Cocoa Beach for a couple of years just to have a chance?

just kidding, and bench racing

If Trey hadnt crashed in his first moto. If Townley hadnt taken out Shorty. It would have just been a walk in the park for the USA.

Even if Pourcel had been there. Musquin had 2 DNFs. We still would have won anyway.

Riders have bad motos, its part of the sport. Riders get hurt like RC did at Glen Helen before the MXDN. Its part of the sport but we still won anyway. Philippaerts was there last year, took out IT and it didnt matter, but AC crashed costing them a chance. Its part of the sport.

Even if we lose next year, it is about time the Euros stepped up to the plate. 6 straight wins, can the American continue to do this, maybe but if the Euros do win, you let them bask in their glory and we go after them again.

I don't have a problem with MXGeoff talking up Europe. He has to eat crow now, just like the Americans would have if the Euros smoked us at Lakewood. All in fun at the end.

I doubt it was his decision to debut a EFI bike in a foreign land. I'm guessing Everts gets credit for that one.

Musquin is fast. Faster than Roczen. Marvin beat Ken by almost 100 points this year. Beat the American drum as much as you want, but discounting a rider as talented as Marvin is fucking stupid.

No doubt facepalmala; both Musquin and Roczen are among the best riders in the world in their class. I would love to see them come here and race, they would easily be contenders just as Pourcel was.

BUT, I was talking about the poster here at Vital, NOT the riders! Smile

Yeah, Musquin and Roczen are for real! Even Paulin on a 450 is no joke!

Think about this for a second...Its really hard for a small country to put together 3 really fast riders, even for a France or Germany...its a matter of numbers. If you were to take the top 3 riders from the GP's and formed a team...how do you think the outcome would be from year to year. Its no wonder the US wins every year...the deck is stacked against the other teams from the begining. Just food for thought Smile

So if we had a Dungey, Stewart, and Villopoto we'd lose? That's some food for thought!

you guys are missing the point...the size of our country makes the odds better to put together a complete team of 3 riders...take the same size area in europe say, and pick the 3 best riders from that area regardless of country, and I'm saying the odds of the US winning each year would go down drastically. Roczen, Cairoli, Purcell ???? Desalle, Roczen, Cairoli??? Oh, and I saw Geoff running around all weekend...he was workin his butt off Wink

You know, thinking of Lierop - 2012.....

It would probably be a good idea to have a replica track of Lierop built here in the States (never groomed of course)...

And maybe run some MXoN qualifying races on the off weekends for all the American racers LOL.

Sure would be an interesting way of picking a team, but it just may work to our advantage. Smile

It would also give the picked Team some place to practice prior to the MXoN.

Because Lierop is definitely gonna be a tough one for the US.

I can see your point, but then again, what if we just take WA, MN, and Florida? Let's face it, we'd be a contender!

You muppet. By that reasoning, China and India should dominate the MXdN each year....
