I almost bought one of those new in 89, but bought the Mustang instead. Sort of wish that I would have gotten the Probe but the Mustang was plenty of fun too! I can’t remember the actual negotiations perfectly, but I think that it came down to the Mustang being a manual that made me choose it, along with it being bright red!

930 Tail? Oil cooler in it?
Picked it up 22 years ago today, merica' 🇺🇸
My black Monte Carlo? What most think it is.
LOL , A Buick grand national. Tell us about it…….very cool.
Alright, how much ya want for her?
1986 GN , rare cf5 moonroof (about 512 with that option ) 5512 GN made in 86. Gnx style wheels and flares. Bigger compressor wheel, larger exhaust housing turbo, bigger injectors, no cats, running 20 pounds of boost. Bought it to sell, most asked if it’s a black Monte Carlo. Some said too bad it didn’t have a V8. I finally told one guy “ do you know what a Lamborghini or Testorossa is, this car is faster than them”? Fell in love and kept it. Owned 11 years now. Sometimes I put it in car shows labeled as a Black Monte Carlo.
Mine isn't as "cool" or nearly as fast ... but it's fun. It began it's racing life May of 1980 at the driver's school at Blackhawk Farms outside of Beloit.
It went through about 4 or 5 hands before I ended up with it. It looked like this for a few years.
When Dean bought it it needed a front clip, so he had an '83 mustang 5.0 sitting around. That got put on, as well as the 5.0's rear end. Engine is the 2.4cih with webers, that I'm still trying to jet right. Front calipers are '86 RX7 turbo units pressing on the 5.0 disc's. Here's Dean last fall next to his creation.
And this is it in turn 13 at Road America.
So it's getting a new higher lift cam and I'm hoping the head gasket issue I've got sorted out. Probably more info than you wanted but there ya go. See you in Sept at Road America.
That’s a dream car and a lifetime keeper .💯😎
Buick Opal …Weber Side Drafts…💯😎 In the bottom Pic the front end reminds me of the German Built early 70’s Mercury Capri’s they sold here in the US.
Opel…
Damn.
Where those called Kadetts?
Factory Black 10-10 code 69 Z/28. 302 that redlined around 8k rpm. Unrestored. Boy, do I regret selling her. 😢
Good call , I actually didn’t remember that….👍🏻
Pit Row
Manta
Manta A's were from Germany and only produced by Opel. Pre-WWII GM bought Opel to have a presence in Europe. The European Manta's in the 80's were our Monza's.
2022 Shelby GT500
Picked up an S197 2013 Boss 302 in January as a daily / HDPE track car since the GT500 is a garage queen. Boss had 870 miles on it which was pretty remarkable. It was like climbing into a time capsule, basically brand new car from 2013. Makes you realize how much better analog gauges and no screens were.
Had a 2010 Mustang GT I really loved.
I’m interested in picking up a new Mustang GT to drive. I baby the Corvette quite a bit and woukd love to have the GT as a daily driver.
My wife has a 2022 GT. Its a really nice car. Factory ordered, knock on wood been flawless for almost 3 years now.
To be honest, I think they really dropped the ball on the new ones (2024+). They've been pretty poorly received and they're basically a 6th gen with some new body panels and two tablets for a dashboard. Lots of glitchy issues reported with the screens.
I'd also be lying if I didnt say I'd love a C8 Z06. Can only imagine what its like on a track given some of the tests and comparisons ive seen.
Yes it has an oil cooler.
On the spoiler I believe it was a “whale tale” option in 1985. It was on the car when I bought it and unfortunately I didn’t get a window sticker with the car. I bought it with 145K miles in it so I got it for a fair price at the time. Unfortunately I’ve put thousands into it over the years, a transmission rebuild cost me a bundle a few years after I got it. New clutch, brakes etc over the years. It’s a very fun car to drive, even though a Tesla would leave me behind. It does handle the twisty roads amazingly and is as much fun as a bike on the backroad's of San Deigo county, it’s so low it feels like my ass is an inch off the asphalt. I am not mechanically capable of working on cars so this thing gets taken care of an excellent Porsche shop here in Vista. I could have saved a lot of $$$ over the years if I was a decent mechanic
This car looks very good in pictures but up close there are blemishes in the original paint. The seats/dash etc are all original and intact ( no tears) but the seats do have some age cracks. Inside it looks 40 years old. Outside it’s a beauty even with the worn paint in places. The body is perfectly straight
If I was rich I’d get another one in pristine condition. But since I’m a blue collar construction worker this is the perfect Porsche for me. I can drive it down to Home Depot to pick up a box if nails and not worry about it.
My goal is to keep it in good running condition and leave tj to the kids to fight over when I’m long gone. People of all ages (including 10 year olds) compliment me on this car.
My wife wanted a fun car when the kids were out of the house. We bought a Genesis Coupe 6 cylinder 6 speed manual touring edition. Fun car but always in the shop. As soon as it was out of warranty we got rid of it. The list of problems was long, the Hyundai dealers weren't the sharpest lot, went back for the same problems several times. Didn't have it for too long before I was reminded how fast fun cars = the eventual tickets and insurance hikes. Fun car but I don't miss it.
❤️
I agree. They should have badged those as "Cudas.
It lays down a couple of stripes for sure. Only 3 sets of tires, but about due for some freshies. It's a blast to slick them up on the way to the tire store...not so much leaving the tire store $$$.
1972 Chevelle, 406ci small block, 12.1:1 compression,AFR heads, 950 Quick Fuel carb, 8” converter 5100rpm stall, 4.10 gear and 12 bolt rear end
Looks rad with the box flares. Really cool car
Wow Dude! That is beautiful…. If you have any pics of that white interior , love to see them.
