Hate to say it, but it seems Adamo got his moment of glory and just isn’t going to go there again.

idk. He had two really shitty weekends. He held the red plate earlier this month.

Ok, I’ll take that.  When he’s not there, he’s really not there.

Looking at moto wins, etc it doesn’t look that bad.

Yeah it's likely over now though. But he's riding the best he ever has. He won his 2023 title with only 4 moto wins. And only because both Geerts and Längenfelder missed 3 GPs

Just finished watching it on dvr (or whatever we call it now). Shame the crowd and the gate was so low. It’s a hell of a track, I really like red bud but you have to move around to see it all and matterley is literally a track you can so almost everything from one spot. The racing wasn’t very interesting and the crowd terrible. They’ve got to sort it. Poor British riders showing probably doesn’t help

I believe the lack of crowd is due to the time of year and the weather.

If the GP runs in March/April more people would go, but then of course we risk it being a wet weekend.

in the summer months, the sport in this country drops off- rider entries, general business, all sorts of noticeably lower amounts of people are getting involved. I think there’s too much other stuff going on. Also the school summer holidays are just round the corner and that’s a super expensive time of year for families.
It just seems the uk people are more keen for it in spring and autumn.🤷‍♀️

Then the heat! We aren’t well adjusted to the heat we’ve been having. Lots of people couldn’t bare to sit out in it all weekend.

Until we get a top British rider in the mix, the GP will carry on declining like this. Great track, great weather and it was still empty. If there was the chance of having someone to cheer on, the cost would be less of an issue, but who is going to spend a couple of hundred (when it's all counted up) watching no Brits in MX2, and a couple of tail-enders in MXGP?

You could run the GP round a flat field but if there was a Brit pushing for the win it would be full. Fans don't go for the big infrastructure and fluff. Just the chance to hang over the fence and shout themselves hoarse cheering on a home rider ☹️

I was actually pleasantly surprised by the turn out for sunday after how quiet Saturday was. More people turned up than I expected anyway.

The seconds moto's were a bit disappointing. I don't know what happened to the track or what they did in between motos but it definitely had a negative outcome for the races. Shame because the first 2 motos were really good. But overall it was an excellent weekend. Just hope we don't have to wait years for another one over here.

I think that's partially true, but I'd argue there's also the fact that the GP series has been destroying itself by hiding behind paywalls and generally being a massively corrupt shit-show. A lot of UK fans just aren't going to support that. MXON is a different thing, but MXGP has a serious popularity issue almost everywhere right now and even the riders seem to dislike it.

Oriol Oliver has really improved leaps and bounds since jake Nicholls gave him a touch up to the helmet in that Brit National after they came together. 😀

That's true too. I remember Luongo getting regularly slated on the old UK MX forum (can't remember the name) 15 years ago but nothing has changed. He's still creaming it off and rinsing the riders, and the FIM doesn't seem to care.

You would have thought someone would have put up a rival euro series that would pay the riders more money then the GP’s do if it were that simple.

Giuseppe isn't in charge anymore for a couple of years. It's his son David who pulls the strings now.

As long as the OEMs want the riders in the serie that has the world championship title nothing changes.
The moment the OEMS say we value WSX or a combo of the national races more then the GPs then you will see the factory riders in those.

It woudl take a lot of cost, big sponsors and backing from a lot of stakeholders to get that off the ground. All while MXGP make every possible effort to torpedo it with FIM support. I can't see any major sponsor coming anywhere near mx right now.

But it isn't that simple. Most of these people complaining couldn't run a popsicle stand. Not to mention a motocross series. The Brits are A-class complainers...but don't seem to be able to fix anything.
