Sorry, haven't post a pic online in a while. I swear I'm 31 and know how to do it. Now it works.

This guy, watch on Allisports, takes 1 pic, then turns around, and pretends like Canard isn't even there.

Yeah we do some photography and I was yelling at the computer screen at that guy for missing what could have been a cover shot for someone. Canard fortunately pulled out the championship which made those pics less valuable.

I saw that too,but then I looked at what lens he had on his camera,The lens he has on his camera would of made it tough to get a good shot,he would of needed a lens for close up shooting.

That guy has a zoom lens on his camera. Is he supposed to take a picture of Canard's eye?

Exactly what he would get with that barrel from that distance.

That guy has a 70-200 2.8 Cannon lens on. He could have easily set it on 70mm, took a few steps back and started clicking. I shoot with the same lens except it's a Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR

It happens all the time. I don't think there's a shooter out there who doesn't have a story like that.

BTW, it looks like a 300 2.8 by the size of the hood, not a 70-200.

thats jon..jon is a very good photographer,,u are just a dick..Some photogs have the luxury ov having two set ups around there neck at all times. But most have just one and are changing lenses all day long.I shot in this exact same spot .if he had his telephoto on i think he was shootin the outside berm type thing that was on the exit of that turn.
Photobucket
Whats the point in snapin a pic if its only gonna be canards top half..i asked jon about it the day of the race and he said when he was lookin around he was lookin to see if anybody else got the shot..but like also said before the pic is null and void cause he got up and won the championship..people want fist pumps not face plants from the champion..why would you take the time to post this tho.?

I know! I saw that live and thought "this is the biggest race of the season and the title contender just went down IN FRONT OF YOU, why aren't you jumping out of your seat like me knowing you can take that photo, good or not?!" In even 5 years it would be a legendary talking point and a little piece of moto history, entire body or not. It's digital. If they look terrible don't use them. It's not like he's using film and only has a roll or so left.

Oh my God people, I guess it's true about people on the board taking things too seriously. I rewatched that race last night and that it would a funny picture to post. I'm sure he's a fine photographer, it's just a funny screen shot. And he did shoot a picture or two of him before he turned around.

And I think since Pala is kinda new, they should start calling the jump up and corner where Pourcel crashed "the dislocater", kind of like Larocco's leap. And they should paint that one specific hay bail red and put a #38 on it.

You need to get out and use that 70-200 a little more. I don't think you have a clue to what you're talking about if you think you'd be able to get the bike and rider at 70mm from there.

The headline of this thread was a bit bad and obviously provocative for some. I would say something like: What is the photographer missing here or something? Because the picture was pretty funny!

Just saying...

That's definitely a 70-200. The 300's are muuch bigger.

Yeah um we shoot professionally and I know a thing or two about motocross photography. I can post pics that I did for the 07 MXDN if you would like to eat your words. I said he would have to take a few steps back to get the shot in. I shoot with my 70-200 trackside almost weekly. That is 100% without a doubt a 70-200. Thanks

ok!! do you feel better?.. we know you were dying to say that.im not the shit talkin type but since your boasting....if all you got is pics from o7 mxdn to make someone eat their words, maybe your a lil rusty ?..im not arguing the size of the lense,,but i know how that turn was cause i shot in it..and in order to get that pic where he was standing no few steps back woulda produced the image u think he missed..if you really were a profesional i doubt you would be on here critisizing someone whos actually out there shooting...and for some one to take the time to take a picture of a computer screen and have nothing better to contribute to the "moto related" board than this b.s sorta says a lil something about the orig poster......DUMBGEON?

First off I was not criticizing him. I was just saying that as it was happening I was yelling at the screen for him to turn around and get the shot. I was just throwing the 07 MXDN out there as an example. I have all the pics you could want of just about anything motocross or drag racing. I shoot with those focal lengths at almost all times! I know where you have to be to get the shot. I am assuming he was using a full frame camera so on a 35mm format that 70mm focal length is a true 70mm not the 112mm it would be on a DX sensor. No you could not get the pic from 10 feet away but take some steps back and you're in. You do what you have to for THE shot.

Little64, if you know the flavour of this board you shouldn't be surprised by what some members post - it's nothing personal (usually). That said, it is a funny picture - photo tech aspects aside.
