Edit. This has nothing to do with deggan. I just used his ridiculous blocks as an example.
These fuckin starting blocks are just beyond ridiculous now. There needs to be a revision to the rule for them. No more than 4 inches of height no tilts or angles to push yourself forward. I'm all for them to make things a bit more even for us vertically challenged but with front and rear holeshot devices its not like back in the day when we started with full travel in our suspension.

Haiden’s start blocks are insane. He is definitely a short king and needs all the help he can get height-wise but those look like they’re made for a toddler.
my wife brought up a good point when listening to steves rant and his suggestion for limiting them based on the height of riders.
If you limit them based on the overall height of a rider, you are potentially putting people at a disadvantage who have a longer torso and short legs. Just because someone is 5 foot 7, they can have longer legs than someone who is 5 foot 10. This happens all the time and its why when you go to buy a suit they tailor the inseam for you.
I vote for introducing bikini clad starting assistants.

It isn't all about height. They are wanting to minimize the time it takes to get your feet on the pegs, and minimize the movement required.
I really don't think he pushes himself forward. I believe his main advantage using these is that he can put his feet on the pegs right away while barely moving his legs. This probably helps his balance out of the gate and allows him to twist that throttle a little more...
Aren't all the Star guys are using the same blocks? This would prove my point...
Why do you care? If they take those away, then take away holeshot devices and anything else that assists starts.
Jasikonis used to start with his feet already on the pegs in the GP's
I'm 5'6 5'7 on a good day. I've never ever needed more than 2-3 inches to be able to comfortably start. With my forks pulled down for starts i can touch the ground to begin with. I have to use RC as an example he holeshotted everyone.
I'm in favor for them but theres a point that its just no longer in the spirit of the idea. There's no one outside of some super mini kid riding a 250 for the first year that needs more than a 4 inch starting block.
My point. That shouldn't be alowed.
i think they are all rediculous … Jeff ward didn’t need them and he has the inseam of a toddler!
Thats an apples to oranges comment buddy.
While I would be fine with that. Having starting blocks like the above just ridiculous. I remember when jasikonas was using the blocks above and thought that was ridiculous as well.
I highly doubt they do ZERO as far as pushing forward to get a better start. It is for getting the feet on the pegs easier and for better, straighter balance at the line. I kinda doubt it gives Deagan a 17 second advantage. This is a nothing burger.
Lil inside info. With them being strapped in the grates they can keep pressur on them and it does get a push effect. Also the taller they are oddly the more stable they are to push off with. Talked to more than a few people who have been doing testing with their riders with this.
Has nothing to do with the rider in the photo. Not some anti Deggan post. This is an all rider deal.
Remove all starting assists... and grates.
I understand. Deagan was brought as because he's a shorter rider. My point was it does nothing as far as helping momentum in general.
Now starting blocks are being ostracized...I guess each to their own and what's really important is what happens after the gate drops.
Pit Row
This!
If they started on dirt the bikes would be lower cause they’d be in a rut ? 😂 never mind…
If they really want it to be even instead of dropping a gate in front of the bikes lift the back tires up on rollers like a smog station then drop the rollers and everyone’s spinning tire hits the ground at the same time 😆 They could start wfo on the rev limiter in 4th.
No, I’m not serious lol
Ehhh ive been told otherwise from a few people who again are testing with their team riders. As a short guy ive played around with it last year and I can definitely get a decent advantage in B class and the vet class to guys not using them. I have a national level built 250f and even with that I can feel a difference when I load the blocks vs just using them for balance.
Why are they attached to the grate if he's not pushing off?
Deegan still has zero hole shots on the outdoor season .. not like it’s some extreme advantage . Things change , progress , go back to original ways , is what it is .
Highly unlikely that they are attached to the grate.
Check out Motomind's photo.
Hard to believe that's legal. Maybe that's at the practice track.
Ive got a better idea, how about the steam catapult they use to launch fighter jets off aircraft carriers?
😆 Yeah this ! Then all 40 guys can hit first turn simultaneously at about 85 mph, perfect ! 😆😆
Thanks for pointing that out, I hadn't noticed that earlier.
I don't think anything in the rule book covers that but it should be illegal. You cant define it as a fixture but it is clear as daylight what purpose it serves.
This was my first thought when they were ranting. I'm 6'2 and wear 36" inseam jeans. Could go longer but its hard enough getting a 36. I have a friend who is 6'3" and he's a 32" inseam. Get rid of the blocks all together. Its not like other sports let the athletes use things to help aid them in the height department. Thats part of it having the right build.
Deegan represents the short men like myself 😎
