Hello

I know the manual Say 15w50 motorex MA2 . But here is very expensive the full synthetic 4T Top speed oil . I can get at a decent price this 3 options: Motul 5100 semi synthetic 15w50 JASO MA2 , Belray gear saver 80w and Motul transoil 10w40 but i'm not sure about this one because manual Say 15w50 . The bike is 2020  ktm 150sx, what would You use of these options?

A Lot people use rotella T4 but  i don't have acces to that oil in my country

Thanks

I have used Motul Transoil 10w40 in my 2018 250sx since new and I'm still on the orginal clutch with 176 hours on the bike of hard moto.

I have used the belray in multiple ktms. The 125/150 shifted exceptionally smooth with that oil.

I run Maxima MTL in my 22' but I'm sure any of the ones you listed will be great as long as its MA2 certified. I think some guys even run ATF lol.

^ Really? I've never heard that!! 😆

OP, I like the Bel-Ray better than anything. If your manual calls for 10W-50, you can run the Gearsaver 80W-85, but I don't feel it's necessary in a 150. 80W will work just fine and it will reduce drag on the transmission a tiny bit. Here's the 80W-85 for reference:

Definitly use a specific gearbox oil for 2-strokes!

The 15W-50 is a motor oil for fourstrokes which are way easier on the clutch.

You'll notice a smoother shifting and the gears are easieer to switch.

Option are Mototrex, Motul Transoil and others

I’ve ran Belray 80 Weight Gearsaver, The Honda gear oil in the red bottles, and Maxima MTL since I bought mine new in 16 and can’t say a bad thing about any of them. If you can get one of those local and fairly easy, that would be my choice. Not a fan of running engine oil in a two stroke gear box.

ATF in two stroke transmissions has been a thing for a looong time. There was one guy in another thread not too long ago who told everyone they were wrong for running it and told us that ATF isn’t a suitable gearbox oil because it’s not made for transmission gears 🤦🏻‍♂️

Type F ATF is all I ever used in my 2-strokes.  No issues whatsoever, and it's the least expensive of all options (as far as I'm aware of anyway).

This made my day.

Literally.

It begs the question what he thought the "T" in ATF stood for.

Tremic transmissions use DexIII which is who supplies GM’s manual transmissions.
