Still undecided. I've had a Moto-10 for 2 years and I like it, but I'm a bit disappointed to learn that it might not actually be ECE 22.06 certified, especially for the price that it is. The 6D ATR-3 seems pretty hard to beat. It has some awesome tech, they shaved some weight from the ATR-2, and it's $702 with the KEEFER25 25% off discount code. Also considering the Astars SM10, but I hit the deck a lot and don't want to be replacing visors all of the time haha.

As long as You are able to find the visor, they will pop back on. I've sold a bunch of SM8's andSM10's . Both use the same visor and attachment . And only have had 1 customer ask for a replacement visor.A lot of the helmets I've sold were wrapped so if the customer was to crash and need a replacement visor, they would liley at least  reorder the wrap for the new visor from me if not both.  They do not seem to pop off for locals at the rate they do on TV.  Opinion or experience, relevant or not You decide.

The 6d helmets are hard to beat as far as being safe and You can rebuild them if You do not damage the shell. 6D offers a rebuilding service for the ATR 2 and 3.

Leatt has a  discount for riders who damage the helmet in a certain timeframe.

I'm not sure if any of the others You listed have any type of discounts available after a crash or not. I think that should also be factored into the purchase considerations. I always tell my customers Do not buy a helmet You can not afford to crash in.

If You buy a top of the line helmet and then crash and damage it, and do not replace it. It is not going to protect as well and You may be better off in a less expensive helmet that fits very well, that You can replace if crashed in.  Not necessarily targeted advice for You ,the OP. a more general advice.

I was just reading other helmet threads and you’ve provided a lot of valuable info - thanks! I’m between the SM-10 and ATR-3 at the moment. I think the SM-10 is the better looking helmet and obviously has great tech. Aside from my current Moto-10, I’m also Astars from chest to toe so I could match well lol. However, the US spec ATR-3 is lighter (important for us enduro/harescramble guys), and is much cheaper with the Keefer discount code. I’m not totally sold on the way it looks, but function>fashion when it comes to preserving the few brain cells that I have left haha

Its funny, I wear an SM8 and its hard to feel the weight difference between an SM8 and SM10.  And I was looking at the weights You have listed. And I thought they looked off for the SM10.  Most manufactures list the weights of a size medium . And will have that info someplace in the specs.

The SM8 is 1360 grams. But the SM10 is 1260 , 1310 with the side pads they added to the current generation , ad 1370 with the mud visor extension according to Alpinestars website.

I have not tried on an ATR-3 yet. I want to try one out at some point. The ATR-1 and 2 did not fit me as well as the SM8 and SM10. The new SM10 fitting slightly more comfortable when I use the thinner cheek pads from the older model. You should try them both on before You decide. Arai has a policy that when sold online the dealer has to provide free return shipping and one exchange if needed for the customer to get the correct sizing and fit. I have never tried one on because  they don't fit my shape head well.

I do sell 6d Arai, Alpinestars and Leatt helmets just so You know  that may make me slightly biased . But I research a lot of helmets and only sell helmets I find to be higher quality . Both from the specs, available tests, and the fit and finish ,feel.  Not trying to sell anything on here.

I have never tried on the FLY Formula models, but I've heard great things about them. Some customers have tried on 6d and Alpinestars helmets and told me they felt like the Fly helmet fit them better. So I told them that it would be a better helmet for them and asked them what stuck out. Different answers as to why. But it sounds like the Fly helmets fit a lot of different heads well. So that might be worth trying on.

I would try to try on as many of the helmets You are thinking of buying. Try and go to a shop. You may be able to get an SM10 at a discount from retail at a local shop if you ask nicely. It is hard to beat the ability to rebuild the 6d and the tech in it. As long as it fits You well.

You will have to use an EU retailer.

I buy Airoh helmets from Dirtbike Bitz in Britain, I would assume you can get a Bell from them.

Glad this thread popped up. Preface - Wearing an Arai atm, Sunday after riding, The first thing I mentioned to my buddy was I think my helmet is to heavy. I have had a ton of neck and back injuries too. The Arai definitely seems heavy. Shopping today. Thanks for the input fellas.
