Bit of an older thread, but I didn't think my question justified a new one.

X-Ring vs. O-Ring. Noticeable enough difference with the x-ring to choose one over an o-ring? These will be on a '23 350 SXF and '24 KX 450.

Preferred brands? I'm usually a D.I.D or RK guy but not brand loyal. Open to trying something different.

I’ve been getting 120+ hours out of these, but I use a Dirt Tricks front

Dirt Tricks rears are very good too, I’m just not a fan of the looks.

I've been using the Primary Drive X-ring chains now for about 10 years - YZ450 and Husky FC350.  I change them and the sprockets out about every 100 hours.  Been bulletproof for me.  Check it, set it to the proper slack, and maintain it and you'll get lots of life out of them.  FYI - Once I get it set to the proper clack, I never have to adjust it again in the 100 hours of use.  that's been my experience anyway.

Dirt Tricks lasts way longer as well.  They are built from tool steel.  Dirt Trick plus an X-ring chain will literally last years.

Agree with this 1000%.  You can get hundreds of hours on that set up before they need to be swapped, depending on the rider and conditions.  Not suggesting someone wait that long, but depending on the rider and what type of terrain they ride (mainly single track), those set ups can go a LONG time.  I don't think it is a good idea to hit big jumps using a chain with +100 hours on it, regardless of the type and brand.
