I’d never really noticed Hammaker before, obviously I knew of him but he seemed to come alive this sx season, hoping he comes out swinging at Pala.  Seems a great level headed guy that’s easy to cheer for.

The universe saw Brian’s shoulder spikes and gave us a ballet dancer to ensure Brian’s seed never sits atop the sport.

Kawasaki announced a 2 stroke and Yamaha allowed Fantic sales in the US, to hurt KTM.
It gives consumers a reason to not buy a new KTM at a time that KTM desperately needs to make sales.

Kawasaki does not have a 2 stroke in development, it will be released as a 26 model and will be a slightly changed GPX.

Beaumer did nothing wrong, Hammaker made bad decisions in the main leaving the door open for everyone.

Villopoto was a better Supercross rider than Stewart. Stewart occasionally could beat him straight-up, but more often than not, Villopoto could run his pace, and not wreck himself.

I also would say, had he found motivation to race a few more years, we would look at him as the greatest of all time. I don't think he would've had a problem beating Dungey from '15-'17.

Semi hot take: If Jett comes out swinging and wins at Pala, we will start to hear about a certain KTM having setup issues.

I got four spicy takes.

The only reason older bikes can even breath in the same air as a lot of newer tech bikes on the track isn'  solely from rider skill. Its because moto speeds overall are slower than other forms of racing especially at the average riders skill level. On the same hand Moto bikes are also dramatically behind in technological advancement compared to other forms of racing.

Second take: Which may be purely from not watching other sports as much. Some moto fans are the most disrespectful, unempathic and rude people when it comes to criticizing professional riders, teams and mechanics. Sometimes the brain dead audacity is mind numbing and so boldly stupid its hard to believe it isn't satire.

Third take: If the sport went back to 2 strokes only or as the main bike. It wouldn't be any cheaper than it is now. Manufacturers would just increase the price on 2 strokes as demand increases and privateers still wouldn't be able to compete with factory teams with their parts, money and development.

Fourth take: The sport wouldn't be any safer with 350s over 450s. They can easily make the same power as a 450 putting us right back at square one.

Spicy takes - Deegan wads himself bad trying to be a hero with a massive jump and/or whipping it in a pack.

Prado wins an overall by round 3.

Hunter wins at least 2 overalls.

I think you're wrong about number 2, it's the general public not specific to MX/SX.   You might not know or care enough to spot the ridiculousness in other areas.

Also a lot of VitalMX forum is satire aside from the occasional newb questions and the echo chamber of people using multiple accounts to build up their own ego.

Your second take is just the culture of the internet nowadays. Instagram comment sections for any kind of sport are absolute cancer anymore. That’s what makes me laugh about how people talk about Vital like it’s some dumpster fire discord server, there’s a few wingnuts on here but overall this place is a lot more level headed than a RacerX comment section.

The only thing I hate worse than win streaks is to see top riders slowly get knocked out of competition as the season progresses after anticipating one of the fiercest seasons ever, leaving two riders who are head and shoulders above the rest of the field to duke it out when it could have been a season long battle royal.

As far as OP.

even if Dungey were able to do that, if you could do the same thing for other riders he would have competition.

What if?:

Stanton without Bayle

Rick Johnson without the accident with Storbeck

Mcgrath without that Suzuki year

Hannah without that water skiing trip

Lechien without pot/partying

Hell, If RC had just finished the MX season the year he retired he would have had another 450 title.

Yeah, I figured as much. I'm not in a lot of other sports but I figured its the same. Just frustrating to see sometimes, hard to have a good conversation about stuff anymore. Ended up dropping from most motogroups, and barely reading anything anymore.

My hot take? The very people that want to “grow the sport” are the ones hindering it. The target demographic of this sport is the reason it won’t reach other demographics and the powers that be have accepted and embraced this. Don’t count on American motocross/supercross ever being comparable to F1 or Moto GP.

That being said I still think it’s the coolest sport on earth

I'll be honest, I thought the same thing until I watched some drunk a-hole literally yelling at and screaming names at Jorge Soler at an Angel's game 2 weeks ago for allowing a ball to drop and bounce to his glove rather than charge at it and chance missing it. That's when I realized it isn't just moto fans. It's just how society is now.

If Danny Storbeck doesn't land on RJ at Gatorback,  those 6 titles that Stanton won go to RJ.  Then Johnson would have 13 titles.   He wins until McGrath comes along.

My spicy take is that one of the PC riders is going to break the curse and beat Deegan for the outdoor title.

Hell, If RC had just finished the MX season the year he retired he would have had another 450 title.

I always wonder if Stew’s career would’ve been any different if his rookie years went a different way.

There was tons of drama because Big James wanted his boy on the factory team, and not PC. The Factory Kawi guys didn’t know how to build a 125, so they had to use Mitch and basically give him 0 credit. Then you have the spy photos from the Honda Test in FL, and the story Mitch told about Big James leaving their pits at a Test Day and going to talk to the guys at the Suzuki Box Van all day because he was so pissed off about the PC/KHI drama. Who knows how close anything really was to changing, but it makes me wonder a lot. Even if James went to PC and Mitch rather than straight to the Factory Truck.

I would love to see Seth use SLC as fuel all year and run the table outdoors, but Haiden is going to be tough to beat.

Oh i agree. Deegan has that late race dawg in him that most dont have which is really tough to beat through out a season. But thats why its a spicy take lol. Im really liking Seth, Kitchen and Masterpool even though they are coming off injuries.

I'm glad Supercross is over.  It's a damn shame that the circus promoters have commandeered the sport and it's now just about making money.  The announcers suck, the program directors suck, the injuries suck.  I wish it were practical for the pros to boycott supercross altogether.

For all of the flaws of the outdoor series, at least it's more about racing than putting on a show.
