Hello Im wondering if anybody knows if Honda had released a CR200cc 2stroke thru the 1990's that never made it to the US?
Honda had the MTX200 from around '83 .
No 'CR' model.
There was an MTX200RW, from, supposedly, 83 / 98 . I think there was the actual model - the RW - in the later years, and, Power Up Kits, so to speak.
Honda did the same sort of 'kit' for the CRM250s, both the 'normal' model, then the AR.
I think all of the above, were mainly Local / Asian market bikes, but, some were released in European / other markets.
All, were more of a 'Trail Bike'.
Just put it into your phone/ computer - you'll find them.
Do you happen to know if the top end of the 98 will bolt on to a 98 125 bottomend?
I've no idea on that , sport.
I very, Very much doubt it - as far as I can recall, the 200 was based off the MTX125 Trail / Dual Sport / Tiddler / Foo Foo 'Dirt Oriented' Commuter bike, that was in quite a few markets - and Not related to the CR engines in any way.

There's parts diagrams for the type of bike I'm referring to. You'll see it's a very different thing to a CR. Though, it had such a thing as a replaceable Head Insert / Dome.
It doesn't look like a real performer, doesnt appear to have a powervalve. It was made till 1998

DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
It puts out a whopping 27 hp, the ATAC is Honda's early version of a power valve, there is a passage...
that connects the exhaust port to the ATAC chamber, with a valve in between, opening and closing the valve changes the exhaust pipes volume.
As I wrote - it's a Trail Bike. As you deduced, it's not a 'performer' as such.
It's got an ATAC ( 'HERPES' is what Honda called it on several models - at least until they realized what that meant in many places of the Globe 😁 ) set up - whatever it is - there's a flapper at the exhaust port, so, perhaps it was more than just the variable volume header section that the CRs had, intitially.
I think the closest to a 'CR" engine that Honda did that was out at the same time, was the MR175 and 250s, in the 70s.
Though, I think the pre 'AR" 250 CRM engines could be fitted with CR parts of that era. Though, I think say, the head of a CR could be fitted to the AR.
Ya, that valve probably kills the engine as far as max hp. Theres said to be another version that makes 34hp, probably in a ported raised compression form it also says it was a competition motor but you can't trust what the net says 60 percent of the time
I'll probably just mess with this thing
With the trikes there was a 200 class. It started out as something for the 200X four-strokes but the rules didn't specify that they had to have a 4-stroke engine so people started building sleeved-down 250Rs. The air-cooled 250R engine was based somewhat off of the '81 CR250 engine while the liquid-cooled ones were based off of the '85 CR250 engine. No power valves or ATAC and they had counterbalancers. With the engine work performed the 200cc motors were able to meet or exceed stock 250R power numbers.
Lots of unique markets outside the U.S.
A sleeved down 2002 cr250 is.gonna be too big for a 125frame.
I need to find out if there's powervalve problems with the susuki is making 22ftlbs of tq stock with a 30mm carb.
I found this healthy 150psi bike with a 33mm carb. But its not that rare anymore

The newer yz200 he got rid of it because it was slow because his bore was tapered and he tried to clearance the piston himself and he probably set up a cast piston with forged clearance
That Suzuki 200 is making 22ft lbs of tq stock with a 30mm carb. That's like 4ft lbs more than the current 250 4stroke
