If RD has an "out" in his contract and makes the move with Roger then KTM USA probably has a very bright future. Can't wait till all the decisions are made and we get some official statements.

Additional facts..... Ian, Roger's motor guru, left with Roger. Both left on their own.
Wow , Ian's been there since Albee first came over.

To make a wild totally bullshit statement....

Your post implies that RD & KTM need to cheat because their motors aren't fast, reflects solely on your lack of knowledge of history of the racing heritage of KTM and their reputation of building fast championship bikes ( no link is another story)

RD's reputation and nickname "The man" are based on his actions.

In my view they've been somewhat of a sleeping giant in US MX and SX. Sure some may say that their bikes haven't been up to standard, but it's also true that they've never had a serious full tilt effort at both classes. They've won and often dominated at every other offroad discipline - World Enduro, GNCC, GP MX, Dakar, Extreme Enduro - as well as showing some success at road racing.

They are also the biggest OEM who seem to have racing at heart, and have been building bikes that people want to buy. At the same time, you could also make the observation that the Japanese OEM's are slowly losing interest and losing touch with US motocross. The high Yen is making it more and more difficult for them to compete on price, which historically was a big advantage over European brands; dirtbikes are for all of them only a small part of much larger businesses; and they are one by one pulling out of direct factory teams to support/satellite teams.

On top of all that it appears as if they've signed the guy who is far and away the best MX team manager in the history of the sport to spearhead their US MX/SX team (and on a smaller side note, a KTM actually won an MX bike shootout from a major US magazine).

I'm not necessarily saying that all of the Japanese OEM's will pull out of the US, but the conditions might be right for KTM to take over the reigns, and with that it might bring more European manufacturers into the fray.

Maybe it's a changing of the guard?
what does the face look like now?

Their 350 isn't fast in a pro 450 class, so yes, they would have to cheat or run FIM rules to get that 350 winning. The 350 has slightly better odds of winning a national than a Canadian rider.

Even AC's "350" wasn't fast enough for Colorado.

BTW, we've got a longer start and some hills for the 350 this weekend, is it time for another round of Mike forgot how to ride threads?

I am old and fuzzy in the head but back in the day didn't the big boy class have 370 - 500 cc bikes all running head to head? I think Roger may have run/won a race or two while being at a displacement disadvantage. Maybe it's apples and oranges but it might have more to do with handling and how the bike puts the power to the ground than outright displacement. Having said that...simple logic would seem to dictate that at certain tracks and under certain circumstances...more power can't be a bad thing.

I'm not sure on current SRP's, but with the US economy the way it is and the Euro getting only weaker against the US dollar, will US consumers pay the extra costs associated with a European made machine if they begin to see them winning on the track?

It is a gamble Suzuki took with RC and I think is a major reason for their decline.

If the Euro is getting weaker European bikes will be more affordable in the US.
And the rising strength of the Yen has and will continue to make Japanese bikes and parts more expensive.

On the other hand, it gives them more buying power to run race teams in the US if they choose to.

I don't know that the Euro will get a lot weaker against the Dollar if things remain about the same.

It would seem that they might represent the best chance to change the rules around two strokes.
That is what you are hoping for, nothing is changing.

Everyone that works for KTM is a racing enthusist ...
that fact alone stands out in the major difference between how KTM operates as a company compared to all the Japanese.

WOW.....KTM is really stepping up their game in the US for sure, Im gonna state that with Roger at the helm and a top rider (yet to be named) on KTM's Ill betcha they have a c'ship in the big and small classes within 2 years. They make awesome bikes and all they needed is a kick in the right direction to change the guard.....This might be just what they needed, every team Decoster has been a part of has won numerous championships and dominated while he was in charge. Wonder who they will get as riders?

Pourcel?
Reed?
Alessi is going to be on his second year as per tony stated on Pulp MX Show
Musquin, a solid threat for either title next year in the lites.

KTM is going to be strong next year!
