I hope everyone involved in this enjoyed it! I know this was awesome motivation for me when I jumped on the rower, especially when that little voice in my head was screaming that I was getting tired.

We did have to stray away from the original rules, as many did not compete this last week. I even had trouble finding time to fit in a new 5000M this week, myself. So instead of taking times only from this week, I went through all the old posts (that showed photos) and counted them into the finals.

+40 Division Winner: noluck
noluck took the cake in all 3 categories of his division with a 500M (1:33.7), 2K (7:11.4), and 5K (18:54.4). His 5K was one of the best posted in the competition, by 2 seconds! Only RX Virtual Trainer, Tim Crytser, had a better time with a ridiculous 18:30. However, that time was not counted in due to the fact a photo was not included.

Under 40 Division Winner: RCC104
Like noluck, I was able to take each category. My 500M (1:27.4), 2K (7:00.1), and 5K (18:56.4), just barley beat times by Chase383 and sdfog1. I just squeaked by Chase's 1:27.5, 500! A difference of just .1! He was also only a 1.1 seconds slower on the 2K. sdfog1 threw down a 5K that was only 2.4 seconds off of my time there!

It start Sept 15th. here is info on it from last year. You will dump body fat if you need to on these over distance challenges. http://www.concept2.com/us/motivation/challenges/team/frc.asp

Greg - maybe you guys want this one for the museum? Is it a model A or something?

That is a Model A! It is amazing how many of those are still being used everyday. If you do get a C2 of any vintage email me and i will get you some training info. Side note: there are a couple of original all chome Model A's out there that are like the Holy Grail. If you see one grab it. We don't even have one. I think less than 100 were made here.

I actually used one of those a couple years back in college when I was training with the Crew team. Found it buried in storage. The things sure have improved haha.

What I don't get is why more old rowers are not missing fingers from the open spokes!

I got my shirt too! Thanks Greg! I didn't know we get one at a million meters. I'll be there soon once my clavicle heals.

Haha, whoever came up with that line is obviously a genius, and probably very handsome as well.... On a side note, I checked out the rowers at loretta's and have used the model c's before at the local gym. I emailed Greg with some questions earlier this week regarding the older "B" models and it was less than an hour later that I received a reply, and many other replys after that as I had more questions. They seem like a great company and Greg seems to do a stand up job as well. I'm going to pick up a "lightly" used model C this weekend so I'm pumped to join you guys next time!

Did you guys get million meter t-shirts or the blue "self propulsion" shirts? My shipping guys must be drinking again - Greg

ok...time to pull this one back to the top.

Just hit a rower for the first time today...I'm in sad shape, but I'm coming for all you over 40 guys...instantly addicted.

2000M at 8:58

500M at 1:59

I think I could drop all that some considering I just sat on it for the first time this morning, so the next times will be more representative of where I am right now. Hopefully, within a couple of months I'll be more competitive.

For everyone looking for something to try I just wrote this up for a guy in Hawaii. Give it a shot.

Workout one: warm up with 10 minutes easy rowing to get blood flowing to warm muscles
Then go 1:00 min high intensity! With 1:00 rest(keep moving if you can)
Repeat this for 10 intervals and then do a 2 min cool down.

Workout two: “ the ladder” again interval style with high intensity
100 meters
10 sec rest
200 meters
20 sec rest
300 meters
30 sec rest
400 meters
40 seconds rest
500 meters
50 seconds rest
Now go back down the ladder in the reverse order.

Workout three: Total body interval
1:00 minute row all out
Get off and do 10 pushups
Then rollover and do 10 crunches
Stand up and do 10 air squats
Repeat this 5 times with the goal of working up to 10 rounds.

Thanks for the workout suggestion. I got a rower recently and that thing is kicking my butt, mostly because I don't really have goals set up.
I'm also going to figure out a setup where I can hear the TV while rowing. The wind noise is loud enough to drown the sound.

What Model is it because the newer Model D 's and E's don't usaaly have a problem with being too loud. The older ones had more wind noise. You can never go wrong with rowing to old MX and SX races. Gate drop to checkers is a fun way to get it done.

I never really checked the results because I figured I was out, didn't realize I was on the podium! Haha.
