You call it luck, I call it racing. Its unpredictable.

Luck is a copout.

Honda could have used larger gas tanks and not run out of gas. That would be preparation not luck, good or bad.

Moto is the one sport where you can do a thousand things right and 1 thing will take you out completely. It was a great race. Metty is finally realizing his potential.

Absolutely and don't think for a second that wasn't code for "preparation".

Some folks need it spelled out for them Eddy- not you though I know.

Take a look at the big picture: Dungey has kicked everyone's ass 95% of the time so far. Pointing to one instance, where he benefited from someone else's misfortune, doesn't make him lucky.

If he were to dominate 90% of the time, based on scenarios like we saw in moto #1 - that would be "LUCK!"

Yep i agree.. not luck when you run up front all the time and win most of the the time. When things like this happen who really would know "what could have been"?

I think there might be a little luck in every Championship. I would bet at some point in every Champions season there was a time when they almost crashed and thought it was a little lucky to save it. But fact is Dungey is the man this season and deserves everything he has accomplished.

I can understand how excuse makers throw "luck" around when there is a changing of the guard but to use it now when its been going on for a solid 8 months is just idiocy.

There is no such thing as Luck. Only fate. You live right and things go your way. Call him Dungey boring. Call him anything you want. He lives for one reason. Winning pro mx races. No house. No cars. No chics. No tv show. No distractions.

James knew this and that is why he bailed. JS did not want to lose his sponsors do to not being able to hang with the "FASTEST MAN ON THE PLANET".........RYAN DUNGEY.

A hundred plus point lead is not luck folks. Domination is a more accurate word. Shits over. Dungey is officially the Fastest man on the planet.

Isn't luck, fate, karma, feeling blessed, or whatever else one believes, just that - a belief? Doesn't science show that the positive outcomes attributed to these beliefs is nothing more than statistical probability?

Whether or not one believes RD is lucky - or that he's a great deal maker (as suggested on a recently clicked thread); science seems to support the argument that by placing himself in contention every single moto RD significantly increases the probability of finishing on the podium.

Congratulations RD for doing whatever was necessary to put yourself in contention moto after moto - luck and all.

At the end of the day, all that matters is who's name ends up in the record books.

Training, prep, wrench, determination and good fortune are always on the side of the person ending up with the most points.

If everything went right for each of the riders having a problem today, the end result doesn't change. Dungey has put himself in a position to win each weekend, and the championship from the start.

All the Dungey ney sayers will be seeing his name in the record books for a long time to come. The kid deserves all the good things coming his way. One of the few that success hasn't spoiled.

Did Dungey spank the field in the second moto? Hasn't he done that all season?

I'd say these guys are pushing it to hang with RD in the first moto. By the 2nd moto they don't have anything left.

Kinda fits right in there with all the other talk of luckiness....

Back in January of this year, if asked your top 3 AMA racers, would any of you guys put RD in the top 3? Outdoors, maybe, but indoors?

It's not really about good luck for RD, it's about being super prepared against a field with a truck load of bad luck, karma, mojo, mechanicals, 350's, jail terms, etc.

It hasn't been a very good year for almost everyone else, heck look at Metty today.... Blink
