the 450 or 250 wont make any more power than a ktm. their street bikes have never competed with other brands in terms of raw power.

2026 ducati desmo 450mx:

Max hp: 63.5 @ 9400rpm,

Max tq 39.5 ft lbs @ 7500 rpm,

Rev limiter 11,900 rpm.

2025 ktm 450sxf:

Max hp: 59.2 @ 9300rpm,

Max tq 32.9 ft lbs @ 7100 rpm,

Rev limiter 11,200 rpm.

just wait until an actual tuner like HP Race development gets one in... ducati exaggerates every single power claims and weight claim since 2007 on every single street bike. this will be no different.

There's 2 ways to do something - the right way and the Ford way. 😁

You know what Ford stands for right?

The Streetfighter and Panigale V4 don’t compete with other street bikes in terms of power? The 190 horsepower 1299 before that didn’t compete? What naked bike has more power than the Streetfighter V4 for the last 5 or so years? Saying Ducati doesn’t compete in terms of power is asinine, especially when they had l-twins competing with inline 4s.

I’m sure the 63.5 HP is measured at the crank and not the wheel but I don’t for a second believe they’re exaggerating it. There’s no need to. Either way, power isn’t the priority these days - everything already makes enough. This isn’t MotoGP with almost unlimited traction.

They actually are!

I've been doing them for decades.

I'm not privy to the new MXers set up - but whatever set up it has it won't be difficult to deal with, It's a single cylinder, that's 'out in the breeze', unlike a Road Bike / Multi, of any brand. It's the 'getting to things' that is a pain in the arse, with the vast majority of Road Bikes / Multis .

I would like to see bikes delivered with notes as to the size of the opening and closing shims, if only to give those that are scared of it all an initial reference point. But,  a check of, and, if needed, replacement of shims. really isn't much more of a chore than faffing about with valve spring compression / or std opening shims - especially under cam / under bucket ones.

I can't imagine that Ducati will not use Shims common to  what their various models use now. Easy to get, and, with my experience with modern Ducatis, rarely, and I Do Mean Rarely, do you need to change them - as I've written quite often here, Modern Ducatis, are Not early Desmo Singles or Twins, in terms of their metallurgy, and reliability. Mind you, I've Never had a problem with any Ducatis I've owned Valve train(s). And I've been around them since the 70s. It was mainly the Electrics......... and that was never that hard to sort out - I  / We had access to an Electrical Engineering Genius ( which I, am Certainly Not! ) who repaired such disasters.  Electrics for modern Ducatis - I'd put them up against anything. Well, for the most part, above the majority of others.
