I just bought my third pair of TCX Boots. They're great....but it's been a while since I've worn TCX (the last pair I had were a totally different design - this was when they were Oxtar). I can't remember if my Oxtars were 43s or 44s. This time around I bought 44s.
Question is - how much leeway in sizing do you deal with? I have a good 1/2" of forward to backward movement and can easily scrunch my toes back...'feels like there is quite a bit of room in the toe box.
But I'm wondering if I go to a 9, that 1/2 of forward / backward movement that I have will be nothing and my foot will be slammed to the edge.
Personal preference I'm sure - but how much slop back and forth is acceptable?
I would return these and get the 9s, but I wore them last night thinking they fit the way they should.....when riding last night I realized I had some movement that made me question the sizing.
(and no there are NO TCX stocking dealers here in SLC.)

Two pairs of socks.
I've always worn one pair of athletic socks, with a pair of CoolMax™ soccer socks over them.
Nice and comfy in the boots, and the soccer socks come up high enough that they keep my knee pad straps from chafing the backs of my knees.

They sure do look like an awesome boot....and the guys who wear them , really like them. And being a few hundred less than the Astars boots....I'm going to try them out.
Tiki.....if you end up getting a pair , let me know what you think please?
Will do.
KGA.....what size of a show do you wear? I made a mistake the other day and listed the wrong size.
My shoe size is 10.5
My Astar boots are 10's
Even though they are a 1/2 size small compared to my shoes , I have to wear a double sock to get them to fit snug.
I was thinking maybe I should order the 10 size also and see if they will work. I'm also thinking maybe a size 11 may be to big.....But i'm going to go with "Foreheads" recommendation.
BTW.....Forehead........what do you do for Oxtar / TCX ??
My typical shoe size is a 9, but sometimes 9.5 and in my current mountain bike shoe I have an 8.5. Annoying how sizing is all over the map - where is the standard unit of measure for shoe / boot sizing? It's like in the medieval days when they used a forearm to measure.
Typically I wear a 10 in moto boots. Alpinestars are 10 for sure, but the Gaernes I just had were 10s and WAY too big. Thats why I went back to TCX - I've had two pair of them before this and really, really liked them (but it was a while back and I could not remember if I had 43s or 44s.)
A buddy of mine that used to work for HRP just emailed me and suggested their insoles which is a good idea. They consume a 1/2 size and should tighten things up the way I want. Like he said its better to have a little bit of breathing room as opposed to the opposite). No boots can fit every foot perfect - honing in on the size with insoles and socks accordingly is probably the best way to go about it.
Forehead also said he's willing to give me some tips as well which I'll try to get to today.
just a peon
Thanks for the info KGA.
