Just wanting some opinions. I'm a 68 year old vet rider. I'm buying a new 2025 KX250 from my brothers dealership, but I can't decide which way to go.
Since retiring and moving to Florida I ride with a group of retired guys. We ride trails and mx about the same amount. My weight is 147, so as with all my new bikes I'll have the suspension done. So that won't be a factor.
I'm just struggling to decide which way to go 250 or 250X. I'm probably overthinking it.
Please no bike brand advice. I'm simply choosing between these 2 models. Leaning towards the X.

If you are getting it revalved anyway all that matters is can you reuse the stock springs, tire difference (at81 suck), 18” vs 19” wheel, cheap looking kickstand, and the X has an o ring chain now.
Throw the kickstand in the trash (where it belongs) and they’re the same bike other than the 18”, o-ring chain, and suspension settings. The X has 2 rates softer springs and softer valving than the moto bike. The stock X suspension might actually work well for you, I’d go with the X, the difference is only $100.18” will also add some comfort, especially on the trails over roots and rocks.
x for sure. leave the kickstand on.

I think the X would be ideal for a guy like you (or me) who rides both trails and MX.
