James Stewart never asked to be given a spot on USA's MXDN team, but he would like a chance to earn a position. Shouldn't James Stewart be given a chance to earn a position on this years MXDN team?
If the AMA does have to announce USA's 2010 MXDN team at Unadilla this weekend and the MX-3 position is between James Stewart and Andrew Short, what should the criteria be?
Should the AMA go by previous statistics?
An overview of Unadilla's moto 1 & moto 2 results?

Tell us what you would look at to choose the rider for the 2010 MX-3 position of USA's MXDN team?

Win or not.
In past years I would have picked James Stewart because he is the fastest rider and the next best guys are either hurt or not going fast enough. But this year I think Shorty has earned the position.
Nothing against JS at all. I wish I could have watched him ride at Hangtown and Washougal this year.
Either way I think were golden!
It's always been fastest guys, or next fastest if they didn't want to go.
Easy. Most on here go on who they don't like and try to rationalize it by saying JS doesn't deserve it because he didn't race.
I say if he is top 3 he at Unadilla he goes. He will only get faster. If he is off the box and Short beats him, Short goes. If he smokes Short he goes.
I would suggest the fastest guys should go, but it's not my choice and team!
GO TEAM USA who ever they are.

The decision has already been made, and I'd be absolutely shocked if Roger picked James without seeing him race outdoors since 2008. Look at his past picks - Short fits the mold that Roger likes for an MX3 rider - perfectly.
I'm pumped either way, and I'd be there screaming my head off no matter who they put on the team.
I know this goes against the very purpose of message boards, but I think Roger DeCoster has earned the right to pick the team he thinks has the best chance of winning out of the riders that are available - which are not always the fastest three riders at any given point.
If I won a fantasy lottery that allowed me to pick the team for the next decade, I'd gladly let Roger pick 'em for me, no questions asked. In exchange for some Team USA gear, an all access pass, and round trip first class airfare, of course.
Also if they already have the picks there is no way Stewart is on the team. They would never pick someone who hasn't raced all year even if he is the so called fastest man on the planet.
Then again I would be fine if they let RC ride!
