Mathis had him on the latest of episode of re-raceables, I was surprised how well spoken Mills was and happy to hear things seem to be going well for him. 

He was fast at times!

When I was 18 I remember racing muddy creek as Ryan was turning pro racing for Honda. Watched him beat Kevin Walker all four pro motos. Kevin was the king of Muddy Creek after Brown went factory.

I wish they would do one on Brian Johnson, I grew up watching him race also right as he was turning pro with factory Suzuki.

Saw his name and thought something bad happened. Stoked to hear he’s doing good. Pretty crazy that he went to Europe for a little bit when Brown and Hamblin went over in ‘07.

Was he not the one who got arrested and jailed at one point for a string or burglaries? Maybe my old brain is mixing him up, but thought he had it rough after his racing career.

I remember him crushing everyone at the big night race Frozen Ocean had in between B/T and Unadilla. I  think he was on a Factory Connection CR125 at that time.

Pretty sure that’s what I remember hearing about Mills too, that’s why I was thinking it was going to end up like a Izzi thread. Good on him if he’s doing better with his 2nd chance.

In 04 right ? I had the cycle news at the time .  His 1st yr pro he was the only 1 racing the 04 cr125.  I think his best finish was a 4th in Sx.  It was a Big thing that yr being on a 125 . The 1st yr of the 250f take over. Milsaps said he was sticking with the RM125 & switched.  Cycle news asked Mills if he was switching. He said No I Love my cr125.  No magazine ever had a pic of his  04 cr125 .   The industry was trying to phase the bike out & Not promote 125.  It was all about how much better the 250f was & so easy to ride.  Mills is the Biggest Rebel that ever rode a bike on the pro level. I know your wondering if it was a DBP double boost port . That came out a few months later.  Probably would’ve podium if he had the DBP.

Davi rode the 2-stroke in sx in ‘04 and got a podium in his 3rd pro rsce at Daytona on the 2-stroke. Mills rode the 2-stroke in sx and switched to a 250f outdoors, same with Davi. There’s a podcast with Davi where he says he was bigger and weighed more than Hepler, and Suzuki still put him on the 125. Pretty sure Jesseman was going to defend his title in ‘04 on 125 but was hurt. Mills had the whole Amsoil/factory connection look in ‘03 as an amateur.

Yeah they all switched to 250f for the Nationals.  Unleaded fuel that yr I,m sure they would’ve done better with c12 .
