1999 joined Secret Service in NYC
2002 became Secret Service training academy instructor. I'll let you think about whether this mostly administrative position is part of the swamp, and whether or not people usually end up in teaching positions because they're so badass at their job or for other reasons. Surely he didn't take this position at such a young age because he had political aspirations?
2006 - 2011 presidential protection unit.
2011 leaves job, leverages it to run for senate, dabbles in media
2012 loses senate election.
2013 writes book
2014 loses congressional election
2016 writes book and loses another congressional election in a different state. Political career effectively over, pivots to media full time
2019 writes Trump book, launches website
2021 takes over rush limbaugh show, gets own fox news show after previously just being regular contributor
2023 writes book
2025 named deputy director of FBI.

My problem is I actually believe in conservative and libertarian principles and believe that if presented to people in honest and competent ways that they'd be wildly popular. But instead when the party who in theory would implement these policies gets control they immediately remind everyone how unserious and unprincipled they actually are and defend it by pointing out that other side did it too. Four years later this approach will be predictably rejected, again, and it will be liberals turn to shit all over everything. So enjoy the warm fuzzy feelings from the guy you like on TV getting a job that makes the people you don't like mad but don't kid yourself into thinking this is change or draining the swamp or any of it. It's not.

I’m happy to see the swamp get drained. There’s still a lot of work to do, ie; people who’ve been in office for 20+ years, irregardless of which side of the aisle they reside.
We agree that the old regime sucked and should be replaced. We disagree on how to best replace them. My candidate pool would not include entertainers who 15 years ago briefly had some relevant experience.
