That thing looks good. I just went through the same thing. Got in it boxes and went all the way through it. Although I’m still not finished. For whatever reason it has the wrong seat on it and I still need a few other odds and ends. It is finally mechanically done though and I will hopefully get to ride it Saturday. We’ll see how it goes. Only thing is I hate the shape of the front fender.😂😂 I don’t have a current picture but this is from a couple weeks ago.  BDEE00AA-0A3E-4CC0-BCC8-2E8350C4D5DB.jpeg?VersionId=1sfjU.ep

Quick update-

Ordered a Scalvini pipe and it showed up yesterday. Tried to fit it up and it wasn’t even close to fitting correctly. It hit the radiator, the brackets and mounting locations were way off and it was  pushing up against the coolant line going to the cylinder head. The issue with the Scalvini it is the same pipe is used on the 00-07 CR. I suspect this is causing the fit up issues on my ‘00. Returning it and bought a FMF.

I had bought a Chinese stator off eBay. Installed it and the bike has no spark. Could be a bad coil, bad ECU or even the new stator could be bad. Regardless I didnt feel like messing around and so I ordered a complete HPI ignition system for the bike.

I had 2 brand new Chinese “Electrosport” stators test bad on a 2002 YZ125 I was working on. 5 ohm out of range but that was enough for it to not spark! It was a pain in the ass to diagnose, so I don’t blame you.

Nice bike Brad. I’ve always had a soft spot for 00-01 CR’s

I’m never a fan of restyle kits but that thing looks incredible. Decal Works knocked it out of the park, great build.

Couple quick pictures- the bike is basically finished. Installed the exhaust and HPI ignition over the last couple days. To be honest I really wish the Scalvini pipe would have fit- I am really not a fan of platinum pipes. Long term I may buy a HGS pipe.

Eventually I will be cerakoting the triple clamps and front brake master cylinder and adding a Smartcarb and VHM head, but no big hurry.

When the temps warm up I’ll get some better pictures in the sun and start it up..

Yeah the 00/01 have a different pipe. The 02-07 pipes will interchange but if you use a 05-07 pipe on a 02-04 you will have to make a dent in it to clear the coolant hose.

How is profesh125 not dumping a minimum of 125 pages of wisdom on this topic right now.

I don’t know anything about a 2000 cr125.  I think  a 01 is very similar . A Denmark member that lived next to the track in 02 hole shot a full gate of 125 b and lead a lap.  Stock pipe & silencer . Practice at Denmark & race day r like 2 totally different tracks , no advantage.  It was cool to see Aaron S. Leading tho . He turned 40 last yr , races 40 A, 30a now.  Wins 40 a at Aztalan big vet race . His brother is on here he won 35A .  2000 & 01 hv a great feel sitting or standing .  In 2000 I was a big RM & YZ guy.  Bikes Looks tits Brad , Great job.  I saw a few like new 01,s on fb . I didn’t want to say anything like buy this & put #,s on it.  The build is a challenge and fun. Looks like Brad had both.

Is the Hpi a noticeable difference? Program able ?  How much & who did you buy it from ?  Budd in The USA said they could find me a ignition for my 04 in Europe.  Email them then no answer .  I don’t like playing with people, I just move on.

I haven’t ridden with the HPI yet but believe the timing curve is comparable to stock. Yes they are programmable but I just went with the least expensive “one timing map” ECU. I could upgrade down the road.

I bought directly from HPI in the Netherlands- pricing much cheaper than the USA distributors…

Just might have it out at Denmark this coming summer, upgraded to a lifetime membership!

Your 2004 CR125 is a unicorn, the only CR125 with a servo power valve, there aren't many CDI's that can control the servo power valve.

Zeeltronic make one in Slovenia, but you would have to develop your own ignition and power valve maps...

The stock HPI curves are often worse than stock.

Worse- can you elaborate?

It’s simply a timing curve and the ignition timing at each point in the curve…Is the curve the issue or the actually timing? (Which can be advanced or retarded).

If it’s the curve- which part is worse?

Also, you say “often times worse” - Does that mean is equal or better in some cases?

Thx . I checked Hpi site no ignition then says there is 1 but says it doesn’t fit your 1989 cr125 ?  Then it says ignition does not control the pv on 04-07 cr135.IMG 2180.png?VersionId=RVTOR49ehW

Good looking bike. I'm partial to the stock plastics and shape, but great job.

That restyle kit actually fits the design of that bike really good.

I have seen multiple dyno comparisons between stock and HPI cdi’s and have still not seen a HPI cdi that outperforms the stock one out of the box. Including my own bike…

So if people are going to buy a HPI cdi, they should be willing to buy the programming tools and put the bike on the dyno. After some tweaking the HPI outperformed the stock cdi, but as i said: out of the box it’s worse than stock..
