I'm not an expert with aluminum. I don't want to polish the aluminum but I want to remove these oxidation spots. What should I use to fix it and retain the same finish?

7447 Scotch-Brite, with the grain as described above, for best result. If that finish is a bit course for your liking, follow it up with grey 7448.

Thanks, guys. I thought that would be the answer, but I've never used that before. Scotch Brite comes in pads, right? I'm assuming I can get 'em at Home Deport or something?

EDIT: Hahahaha, I just realized I typed "Home Deport." There are usually a bunch of day laborers hanging out in front of the one near my house, so it makes sense. 😆

Yes they come in pads. Home Depot or any hardware store will have them…

Like above but use some Wd40 also. Shoot some on then maroon scotchbrite with the “grain”. Maroon pads dry generally leaves too many scratches on the part

As mentioned Scotch Brite Grey to start if that doesn't do it then red but finish with the grey and going WITH the grain is important.

This is a good post, good info for some of us.  I’ve never tried one direction with scotchbrite pad, makes sense.  I need to drop my swing arm on my recent KX450 and throw grease at it.  While I have it off I want to clean up the swing arm.  It already has spots on.

I was going to hit mine with rubbing compound and a small orbital, hoping to get a swirl that’s consistent.  I cleaned up a swing arm on a YZF a few years back but can’t remember how I did it.
