So Im flying over to Florida from the UK to watch my 1st AMA SX in Tampa
Its a bucket list thing, not a cheap trip as Im bringing my Mrs with me,but Im so looking forward to it
Any tips to make the most of the day/night?
Will I be able to walk the pits before and see the riders/bikes?
Any advice would be great
Yes, the pits should be part of Fan Fest. I go early, around noon, so it's a long day. Fan Fest is from 12-6 so that's when you check out the pits, watch practice etc. Then the night show starts at 6:30. Once I'm there I don't leave so it's 10-11 hours at the stadium (set expectations for your wife). The earlier you get there, the easier it is to park also. It's a fun day and hopefully weather will be good. In 2023 it rained a little but not enough to get everybody soaked and the racing was great. The disposable ponchos are a good investment in case it does rain. You can probably find them a CVS or Walmart or something when you arrive. I think you are only allowed to bring certain items. Maybe a fanny pack or something like that. Fan Fest are separate tickets that you will need to purchase if you don't have them already.

Have a great time and enjoy the beach on Sunday.
Congrats dude! Glad you’re crossing somethin off the bucket list, that’s a crazy good feeling. I’m not super well traveled but I think going to Florida was the right move, lots to do and theres a culture there
Great advice right there
Thank you
Really cant wait
Its a 10hr flight and certainly not cheap,Im thinking around 4000 pounds all in.But worth every penny

"Word of warning then. Out there they call them 'fanny-packs'. Cos fanny means your arse over there.... Not your minge" - Keith Bishop 28/10/2002
You will be surprised how much bigger the rhythm lanes are in person. TV cameras do not justice to the size of any of the obstacles.
1. Pit party is one of the best parts if the day. Get there early so you have time to take it all in. There's BMX, street bike stunting, VR sims, vintage bikes, and of course team rigs and riders. Take a Monster can and get in free. Otherwise, it's like $10.
2. Practice: I like to watch 1st and 2nd practice to see the guys figure the track out. After that, everyone is hitting everything and pretty much the same lines for the rest of the day. You can usually sit anywhere for practice. You don't have to go to your seat. And you can leave the stadium to go the pits and come back as you please.
3.Race time: get to your seats in time to watch opening ceremonies. It's worth it.
4. Food and drinks: get ready to lose your ass. It's expensive.
One more item, I'm sure the Mrs. is probably more excited for the beach so if you didn't get a hotel on the beach, head to Clearwater Beach which is nice. I think they have restaurants on the beach etc. Unfortunately I'm not going this year.
Welcome sir! Take it all in and I'm sure you will have a great time. You'll have to give us a report on your experience and thoughts
As someone previously stated get a monster energy drink per person as the empty can will get you into fanfest for “free” and the added perk is the empty monster can line is usually so short! Not much waiting
Make sure you read the stadium bag rules and what you can and can’t bring in.
Have fun!
As someone that lives in the area, I have a few questions for you. Just trying to give you some ideas for activities to do while visiting the Sunshine State.
Where are you stay? (Tampa, St. Pete, Clearwater, ect.)
How long is your trip?
Are you ready for the humidity?
Also, the term “Florida Man” is a real thing. You will know one when you run into them lol
It’s February bro he’s going to be fine.
To be fair, the Brit’s that are here in Florida right now racing have complained a couple times about the humidity.
After dealing with Brit’s abroad the last couple years, I would say, enjoy the weather. Like a few said, go to Clearwater beach Sunday.
I've never experienced humidity like Florida before or since. After the first shower I took in the RV park we were staying at, for a minute I couldn't figure out why I couldn't dry myself - I was sweating so much there wasn't any point using a towel.
As a North Carolinian coming down wednesday night have any activity suggestions? Most likely going to to do clearwater beach, mountain bike at alafia one day and who knows what after that. Staying a mile west or so of the stadium.
Staying in Orlando a couple of days the heading to Tampa
Im guessing it will be a little different to the near freezing temps of the UK, Im ready for the heat/humidity I think
Going to be brilliant
Usually it's open seating during practice and qualifying. Get down close to the track and you'll see how big some of this stuff is! Enjoy!
Are you there watching qualy?
You are going to love the first gate 250 and 450 drop!!! Feel the rush!
