LOL.

to bad you have no clue.

Remind me of my role at X games? what are my responsibilities? What are the rules of scoring? How many judges are there? Who are they? You want to point the finger at me for your opinion being different than the results that is fine. I guess you have to blame someone. If you want to get into a debate about the results PM me and I can give you an argument for every point you think someone else should have won.

It is a subjective event, everyone has a different opinion that may differ from yours.

Sorry, I didn't know you know Andy Bell, Adam Jones, Myles Richmond, Dustin Miller and Ronnie Renner.

That makes you more than qualified to blame me for results not being how you thought they should have been.

My bad.

again, please remind me, if you know... What is my role at X games? What are my responsibilities? What are the rules of scoring? How many judges are there? Do you even know my opinion on the results last year? How exactly did I mess up anything?

Let's hear it.

You are just trying to take a swipe at me and have no clue what you are talking about.

I just hope everyone stays safe this year, Best trick is going to be gnarly again. Even if you hate Freestyle you are going to want to see this. I'm scared to watch!
Your role is head judge at X Games who "Has been accused of taking money, spit on, yelled at and threatened by the biggest names to ever grace our sport..." Where is the confusion? And it wasnt just me blaiming you for the results not being the way I thought they should be. You flat out got it wrong and all the other riders said so. Nobody backed you up, and everyone called out your name. Then you went on your little ESPN "Hey Im on your side" campaign. I remember a whole lot of backtracking from a man who has no role besides being the head judge.

Well, If you have to blame someone I guess it could be me being the head judge, I will take that, I am in the postion so I will. But you are saying "You flat out got it wrong and all the other riders said so". I alone have the power of determing the winner? That would be wrong. BR>
Maybe if you would like, when you are there at X this year we can meet and I can give you the rundown on how it works. I will bring you up to the booth and you can see for yourself. Maybe, that way you can get more of a grasp on what goes on to make better sense of what you post.

I sure this disdain and finger pointing at me would make a lot more sense if I knew who FlaNard is. Did I crash into you at a race one time? I'm not a ladies man so I don't think your chick would have succomed to my powers(back in the day anyways) Did I kick your puppy? If I did it was surely by accident I LOVE DOGS!

I don't get it.

backtracking.... not one bit. I am a man of integrity and honesty as everyopne in the booth is and have been head judge for 8 years now. Sure some of the riders ae mad at times, I expect that. I don't expect people to agree with me always, but you first need to know what I think and how it works to be able to say "I got it wrong". I will walk into X games this year with my head held high, and all those guys you mentioned above still respect me as I respect them. I'm not worried what FlaNard thinks..... But I do get a chuckle and am confused at how you came to your opinion on the matter.

how did a Deegan and Ping thread pull my work into this! lol. Smile

although i hate freestyle and everything it stands for, i have enjoyed watching the best trick events since it was introduced into the games. last year was the last year i will watch. it was so clearly and obviously incorrect. the whole idea of xgames has gotten so far off line from what it started that it's sad.

Loza won two years ago over Lusk i believe, for having a new trick. not more technical than lusks trick, but for being new. not to mention he fucking wrecked into the barricades after landing... wow. then last year, he wins over bilko's NEW trick with a re-do of his already landed trick. wtf?

You are correct, there is a HUGE argument there!

Freestyle MX is a very subjective sport to judge. Innovation in best trick does hold value but it isn't everything. Lusk did a double grab back flip 2 years ago that was sick. But here is a test for you, had that trick been done before that or was that the first time it had been done? How well do you know freestyle?

Lusk was VERY happy with silver and man I miss that guy and his smile. I have no doubt the sport would be even further along if he were still with us

If only one guy in the world is doing a trick does that automatically make it the hardest most technical trick out there?

When Loza wrecked into the barricades, do you know what was discussed before the event as landing or not?

We could sit and argue for days about what is wrong and what is right. I could get you to second guess your own thoughts over a round table discussiong guaranteed. But being told on the internet that I am wrong from someone that has no idea how I do things or what I think is dumb.

The bottom line is, these guys are insane and extremely talented all the way from riding to marketing themselves. It is crazy really to see where it has come from to what it is. I respect all the riders and will do the best I can as HJ but i know only three things in life are for sure, Death, Taxes and people saying the judges suck.

ESPN right now is reporting on statements regarding collusion in the NFL. If there is behind the scenes stuff in the NFL, it can happen at X games and it won't even be a blip on the radar.

Well, I can tell you in all my years of judging in all the different organizations and events I have never, ever been approached by TV, riders, teams, sponsors, family or anyone in regards to giving anyone or anything the benefit of the doubt. I ahve been accused and hear rumors but I laugh because it has never happened.

ESPN wants a fair competition and you better be able to explain how you got to a determination for anything blatantly wrong or argumentative. It is truly a world class event. They know it is subjective and results can forever be debated.

This thread is classic... Deegan calling out pingree and renner on twitter... Lmao!

Deegan and the metal mulisha are so fucking lame! Deegan was part of the freestyle movement, but was not the reason it got so big. IMO it was the "cool" thing to do... Acting like fools and turning their backs on racing... Meaning that deegan is thready and a follower not a "general".

If my memory serves me correctly, deegan and linkogle(sp) started the MM because they needed a platform to tell the racing community "fuck you". However, deegan bailed on original "core" concept of the MM and linkogle, because he saw link's (truly hardcore) lifestyle spinning out of control, and now deegan sell kiddie toys at walmart.

My question is WTF happened to linkogle? He represented the "I don't give a fuck" attitude with his clapped out bikes and style... Not deegan.

Rant over

Link is the shit. He rides the most haggard bikes and straight hucks it. Last I heard he was making a documentary called "Mind of a Demon" and hitting some 40ft quarter pipe with 5ft of vert. All hear say though.

what part of loza's repeat trick, which he had been doing (assuming here) all year to perfect was harder than the 360 (of which maybe 5 guys can do) indian air? in your personal opinion.

i have no doubt that judging is more difficult than it seems. however, i've seen in many of the judging sports that it isn't always fair. take a gold versus a bronze with a grain of salt.

Whoa bud, I wasn't comin at you per say. I was pointing out that if it did, or does happen, the topic would be lucky to make the 10th page of the local newspaper.

Lets get Andy in the "throwdown" with Ping and Deegan, he's built like a Smurf as well.

This is a perfect example of opinions and understanding how the judging works.

I have never given my personal opinion, nobody knows what I think. I do not give a score so I could not have "got it wrong".

I will however, stand behind the decisions of the judges from the explanations given to me and walk into this years X games with the same judging panel and my head held high regardless of what anyone "thinks" of me.

LOL. Sorry, I knew you weren't coming at me but I just wanted to throw out there I don;t think it happens at X games, for sure not FreestyleMX.

I hit 32 years old in December, I have put on some weight and have been thinking about ordering p90x. LOOK OUT!

j/K

I want no part of a throwdown. I would rather have a "talkdown" and hug it out.
7/21/2010 1:49pm Edited Date/Time 7/21/2010 1:50pm
Loza's trick albeit difficult is gay. If you want to judge it on difficulty and execution Bilko killed it and everyone from the announcers to the fans to the riders found that obvious. It's weird to me the only ones that saw it differently were the judges.

Loza looks like a goon rider leaving the bike then catching it and landing way out of control every time he does that trick. If fact he even wadded on the landing in 08 and somehow won the gold.

Now on Bilkos insane 360 to indian air. He executed that insanity with poise and precision looking like a polished pro.

How the hell do 5 respected ex pros see it any other way...?? Hmmmm?

Oh and Regis you asked how this thread turned into a debate about your job.. Well it's easy to answer that. You posted a link to your article saying if we wanted to know what you thought read this. I , like allot of people didn't know you were the head judge and I'm sure 1/2 your intention was to boast about that. So you got what you asked for.

With that said I don't envy the judges job but at the same time you signed up for it.

I know I signed up for it and I have come to expect that not everyone will be happy, however this thread turned to me before I provided a link to what I did by a guy/girl that knew I was head judge and tried to bring up last years' X as a personal slam on me.

I provided the link for an explanation, not to boast on what I do and my role at the event so he/she (FLaNard) could form a better opinion on it rather than what he/she thinks I may do or did. I also provided the link so people who wanted to know could read what happened and why instead of being accused of something by someone that has no idea what my role is or what I do.

I cetainly did't do it to boast. No matter what you do or did you will always be told you are wrong here. Everybody has seen it or done it all and no matter who you are you will be told a better way or how you screwed up. DC, DV12, Brooks, everyone really.

BTW- Bilko did a 360 heel clicker and if you read the link I provided you will get your answer.

My bad.. I didn't see it was brought up before you provided the link. Like I said I don't envy your position. Well that's not entirely true. You get to travel the world hanging out at some pretty cool sporting events with the best credentials while there. so in that regard maybe I do envy you somewhat. I just wouldn't want to judge a sport that is so subjective.

We need to distance our sports, MX and SX from the FMX "badass lifestyle and environment".
We also need to let SX and MX split off from each other, so to speak, Major League Sports that have the East and West Divisions (i.e.; Football, Basketballand Baseball have their East and West Divisions that are two distinctive divisions with their own Champions, then co-mingling each division to create a world series champion. Both the SX and MX series should remain as is but some options are;

1) Create a 3rd Race Series. By shortening each individual series by as many as 6 races each, you now have a newly created 12 race Series (a combination of 6 Motocross races and 6 SX races that alternate each weekend) at the end of the year... to be known as the SuperMotocross Series or the MotocrossSuper Series. Thus, creating three distinctive series with the possibility of three different champions, or what I would prefer is having two Champions and one Grand National Champion. Fans would be watching "moto" all year long. I believe this would be a marketable format that would result in more TV exposure, similar to golf in that they have the PGA Tour and the so called "silly season" season that creates alot of TV for golf. Now add the Seniors Motocross and the Womens Motocross, again similar to golf, creating even more buzz on TV.

2) or perhaps, alternating weekends for each of the motocross and supercross series. This would no doubt create some "conflicts of interest" but would keep all fans, and I think most racers would want to race both series but you would not have a 3rd Series that is an exciting combination of the two series. I personally prefer Option 1 above.

3) In any case, I also believe that ALL races should be "Incentive Driven" with racers earning their money by WINNING, not paid very well before they ever compete each year. Do it like Golf... forget the team concept. Thus, creating larger purses for each race instead of highly paid Team individuals. The fans then are excited to watch the individual racer vying for the $500,000 purse race and showing the breakdown of the purse indicating what 2nd, 3rd...etc., what each position will earn. MONEY creates EXCITEMENT! Huge salaries do not. Each individual racer can have "endorsements (sponsors)" but each Series (e.g.; The PGA or the FedEx Golf Series, or its equivalent being the Toyota Supercross Series, and the newly created Muscle Milk National Motocross Series) and each individual Race will have its own sub-sponsor (e.g.: FMF sponsors the first race of the Muscle Milk Series, or AT&T sponsored first race of the Toyota Supercross Series similar to the way golf does it. Also, individual stars such as Jeremy McGrath or Roger DeCoster might sponsor another any of the other races in the Toyota Series. Again, similar to the way Golf has done it with the Bob Hope Golf Tournament or the former Bing Crosby or Dinah Shore Tournaments. Example: JS has an endorsement from L&M and others, just as Tiger is endorsed by Nike and others, and this one race in this example is sponsored by AT&T. Like golf, sponsors are allowed to add 2 or 3 "exempt" amateurs or privateers to their sponsored event.

4) I also feel that it would be beneficial to our sport if the Premiere division (450's/superstars) and second division (250's/up and comers) were not at the same events. The 250's could follow up the weekend after the 450's. Golf has the PGA tour for the superstars and The Nationwide Tour is for the up and comers... totally seperate tournaments. This would create more TV events, thus more exposure and more fans. This also DOUBLES the amount of qualifiers and racers for each division (450's and 250's) at each race, thus more fans, more revenue, more income available to all racers, all OEM's,etc., etc. Now that more SX Stadiums as well as more Race Tracks for Nationals are vying for events at their venues, (i.e.; The Coliseum has taken Anaheim2) lets make Anaheim2 and the Coliseum the experiment. Anaheim 2 is for the up and coming 250's and the Coliseum is for the Superstar 450's. And add the WMA to Anaheim2 with the 250's.

I remember a whole lot of backtracking from a man who has no role besides being the head judge.
that's fucked up man, andy is a pretty level dude and a friend that really doesn't deserve bullshit posted like this.

and andy if i call you out can i get a trip up to the X box. Wink
