my 19 sxf needs suspension serviced/revalved and since im planning on getting a 25.5' FE in a few months and not knowing whats backwards compatible, its got me on the fence on what to do with the 19. Id like to keep the 19 as my backup/mud/sand only bike.
Have been wanting custom wheels & ohlins or cone valves for it until i get a new bike then swap the forks and wheels over and put the new new stock stuff back on the 19. but not sure this is possible. the triple clamps are different part numbers between generations but not sure if they actually fit.
The front end parts will all swap over…the rear wheel will need the newer wheel spacers. rear shock, plastics, seat, linkage, swingarm will not fit on the older chassis…on a positive note, you can get great deals on the older chassis/frame parts, foot pegs, pipes, traxx shocks ect. …
Putting the newer rear wheel on the older bike is slightly more complicated than just spacers. The older 25mm axle will not fit through the center tube in the new hub. You have to remove a bearing from one side and drop an older 25mm center tube in. Also, you need different seals. The older spacers are not compatible with the newer seals.
No you don't. Nacstar (and others) sells spacers that make the old wheels fit the new bike. I have been running them for two years with no issues. The newer KTM spacers might make it fit technically, but there will be a gap between spacer and seals. If you change the tube and seals then you can use the 2023+ spacers.
I read what you wrote wrong. I thought you were saying to fit the old wheels on new bike. I have not heard of anyone trying to fit new wheels on old bike. I think you are correct in that the old 25mm axle won't go through the new wheel at all.
My aftermarket wheels just needed spacers to update to fit newer axle, the spacers capture the distance tube as well….never had a set of stock ktm wheels last long enough to keep them for another year😂

Yeah, I understood the OP to be saying he wants to put newer stock wheels on his older 2019 bike. It's kinda crappy how KTM did it on the newer wheels. The center tube is not 22mm all the way through since it is captured by the spacers on each side. It literally has a raised ridge in the middle to prevent the older 25mm axle from going through! 😵
ok, now im slightly more confused. anyways, i just ordered a new set of 7448 cone vales & WP triple clamps that said they fit all 22 and prior ktms. I held off on the shock because your guys are saying i cant pop it over to the new bike when i get it.
So im hoping i didnt just screw myself with the fork and wheel setup. I ultimately want to take these new forks & possibly the new WP clamps i got for it (20mm offset) and put them on the 25.5 bike and put that bikes new suspension on this old bike. If i have to run the 19 front wheel on the new bike because i got old 7448 cone valves and the axel size is different then that really sucks. Because id then have the old front wheel with a new black and orange FE rear wheel on the bike...
Forks will be fine. I have the 7548, they came off my 22, dropped off to get revalved for new bike and threw 'em on. No problems there.
Triple clamps- Luxon has made several posts about what all is needed for the updated bike.
Shock- Thats a no go, different spring lengths. I thought I remember seeing someone get some stuff internally swapped to make it work, but at that I'd sell it and buy a new one. I've seen some pretty decent deals for what would fit the 23+.
Pegs- Different angle. I did try it though.
Levers- looked to be no changes on that from Brembo. I compared the stock levers. No problems with the Arc setup i had on my 19-22 bikes moving them over to the 23+.
