Hope you get better fella.
I was visiting with an older couple the other day, the wife is quite the Christian and a minute doesnt go buy without some sort of reminder LOL. At one point we got to talking about the cold and flu season. She told me that God has made it so that only those that truely want to get sick..get sick. To prove her point she claimed to never get sick because she doesnt want too.
I also heard that CDC screwed up and none of the flu shots this year covered the strain of the virus that everyone's getting.

Anybody can get the flu just going to work or shopping for groceries. HIV is a lifestyle disease.
Interesting isn't it? 90% of HIV infections could have been prevented by getting people to "wrap their rascals", yet we piss millions away on finding a cure or vaccine. You could die from the flu because somebody 6 feet away sneezed, yet we spend virtually nothing researching it.

Damn dude, hope it all works out for the best for you and your buddy. Prayers sent.
Best thing you can do is get to a doctor early and get on Tamiflu, which is an actual antiviral and not just something that treats the symptoms. Also a celestone steroid injection will get you feeling better a bit more quickly. Not a bad idea to get on a Z-Pak (azithromycin) as well. While the flu is viral and the Z-Pak is an antibiotic (which affects bacteria, not viruses), it can help to prevent those secondary upper respiratory infections or pneumonia that like to set in while your immune system is run down from the flu.
All of that will help if you get to the doctor in the first 36-48 hours - otherwise you just have to ride it out.

Oh cmon now, I like slumming as much as the next guy. Now STFU and post something constructive like boobie pix !
Thanks man, they are talking about un hooking him today to see how he breathes on his own so thats a good sign. On another note another one of my buddys that was with him last week is sicker than shit and does not know if he should go in or not, I am worried because i had his kids here for two days. Wierd stuff.
Pit Row
This is nothing. How does 40 million dead sound? And it was deadliest to people between 20-40 years old. Scary.

The simple answer is evolution. The virus changes. They base the preventive flu shot on the predominant strains of the virus from the previous season - but if the virus changes enough, the shot isn't effective.

what does the virus evolve into?
That, plus the barfing, the constant shitting, headaches, no energy - made for one hell of a week for me.
I got it this year. I was bed ridden for one evening and up and going the next day.
I really don't get why people get sick so much.
It also wants to live. Deadly virii do not spread very well. So over time it may become less resistant to medications but will also become less deadly. If H5N1 goes pandemic it will unfortunately kill millions of people before the virus mutates into something less severe.

Which is exactly why I don't take ANY medication. Probably why I rarely get sick. My goal is to hit around 80 or 90 before I start using any medication.
At which point in time, probably just 1 advil/tylenol will cure whatever ailments I have. Meanwhile the poor fuckers all around me will be packing away the pills in their little weekly pill packs because everything is resistant to it..
It wasn't long ago that they basically just treated your symptoms when you had the flu. But Tamiflu is a decent anti-viral, and if you get on it close enough to the onset of the flu, it's worth getting on. Also getting a steroid injection such as celestone can sure give you a boost and get you feeling better more quickly.
it is and always will be the flu! no differant than our bodies create antibodies in an effort to kill things that are trying to kill us, all in an attempt to resist change.
