I'm moving to the Asheville, NC area next month and I'm trying to find some local tracks that are open for practice/races in the area. Anyone down that way have any ideas of places within 1-1/2hr drive?
I've poked around on the district websites that way, only to find that NC is covered by 1 big AMA district. Most of the tracks I've found are located much further east in the state.
I appreciate any help you guys can provide.

I was fortunate enough to meet some extremely nice people in Boone. Travis, Tanner, and Trevor Wilson.
They had their own track on this huge hill, it was awesome. But from hanging out with those guys I met Jim Chester, and he knew of places to ride. Ended up at Center Road MX a lot which is about an hour? North of charlotte of 77. Even rode with Stroupe once when he was on a KX 125, as well as Zack Bradshaw, Damon’s brother.
The best thing you can do is try to make friends with people who have private tracks.....the only way to do that is hit the races up.
Muddy Creek is not too far over in TN. which is like our very own Frozen Ocean here in NY.
Good luck!

unless you can get hooked up with some of the locals, or you have the $ to build your own track, you'll probably be looking at some drive.
Joe Williams (great guy) is the promoter and has lots of contacts throughout NC, SC, TN and GA. Maybe he can hook you up with some places to ride.
I'll keep my eyes open and try to make contacts around where I end up. I was thinking about going the route of street legal supermoto again to cut the twisty's, but part of me knows I'm just going to be disappointed with speed limits, cars going in the other direction, and dealing with stupid people driving.
