Has anyone missed giving up the KTM map switch going with an older Vortex that does not support it?
I have two Vortex ECU's from 2021 and 2022, neither of which support the newer KTM stock map switch (in my case a 2023 350sxf)
Curious if others have missed out on or regretted giving up the traction control or quick shift functionality if going with a Vortex that did not support it.
Significant difference in price between a remap and a new unit when I already have two of them.
Anyone?
For me, I'd rather have an optimally tuned bike than quick shift or traction control. I don't have quick shift, but I do have traction control, I don't think I have ever used it one time. Quick shift is cool, but I pretty much do that anyway without the electronic function.
edit: I need to buy an ECU for mine if you wanted to sell...The stock tune on my bike has never been great. That would recoup some of the cost of a new unit that supports the map switch functions.
I have a 2021 Vortex that I had re-programmed for my 2024 KTM 450 SXF by XPR.
Have you checked with XPR or Twisted to confirm that your ECU cannot be re mapped for the current generation KTM?
Have to ask yourself how often would you use TC & quickshift functions. I have a 24 350, sent in my older Virtex to be remapped for 24 by Twisted, ends up my vortex was recalled and I got a brand new Vortex for free, the recall was an intermittent stalling condition….which I had been chasing but never resolved. I have never used the quickshift function and would only use TC on the driest of hardpack conditions, but just to entertain myself, IMO neither function is needed…. But I don’t use holeshot devices either, I like some things to remain organic and skill based…..sometimes I don’t embrace technology, hence my 2 stroke collection, Iphone 10 and Ipad usage…..get off my lawn punks😜
