Hey guys, just wanting to get some feedback on how many of you miss going to the nationals on sunday? i liked it when you had amatuer day on saturday, you raced, you cooked out, then had a little fire, and sat around bench racing with the boys and girls, and talked about how good or bad you did out there. i thought this way was great for our sport and it brought in alot of money. do you notice a decline of attendence since they switched it over? just my 2 cents... chime in.....
Yep I am sure DC nor any of his team have EVER had that idea. Only you.

I like Saturday, racing before i could only go to 5 nationals and it was a looong day sunday then had to be to work monday.. now i can get to 6 nationals and not have to miss a day of work...I just miss qualifying heats although timed practice gives the riders who cant buy a start a chance to race a national

DC will be along shortly to tell you all how great Saturdays are. He will tell you how great the riders and the teams like Saturday racing... Funny thing is, I can't think of a major sport where the players and the owners dictate when they play.. Anyone think the NFL would switch to Saturday if the owners and the players would rather play then??

There is a reason the NFL and Nascar are on Sundays. You think they just picked Sunday out of a hat?? It's called research!!!! Know the fan base your going after.. The demo for mx is a younger crowed, who are most likely not home on a Saturday afternoon watching TV.
It's fun to read's Trip's bullshit. Just makes shit up.

There is a reason the NFL and Nascar are on Sundays.

If you haven't been around since the 70's you might not realize that the NFL plays on almost any day of the week. Regularly on Sunday, Monday, Thursday and the ONLY reason they don't play on Saturdays early in the season is to avoid a conflict with college football. Once the college season ends, they schedule games on Saturday.

NASCAR? They run the Busch race on Saturday and the NASCAR on Sunday. Both days are filled.

As DC said, you have no clue about what research and decisions are made and why.

Oh...and the NFL? The owner's vote on practically everything the league does.

I like the Saturday deal! It allows me and my son to practice thursday, race the amateur race Friday, watch the national on Saturday and then race our district 23 race for points Sunday! Are you that core Trip? In the past a normal/average spectator had to watch on Sunday then drive all night only to go to work monday totally shot..

Ok when does the NFL play most of their games? Sunday, right? Yes you have your Monday night games all year. Thursdays? Other than Thanksgiving games and the 3 or 4 games the NFL Network gets. They don't really play to much on Thursdays..

Saturdays? Late in the year you get Saturday games, playoff games mostly though, and that's just so they can more games on TV that matter. Sunday is the day for live sports on TV.

NASCAR? They run the Busch race on Saturday and the NASCAR on Sunday. Both days are filled

Pssst. it's not called "Busch" anymore.. Ever been to a Nationwide race? Nascar makes their money on the guys who race Sundays. If day of the week didn't matter, other than the night races, why doesn't Nascar Sprint Cup series race on Saturday? Because they know more people will watch on Sunday is my guess, whats yours?

As DC said, you have no clue about what research and decisions are made and why.

No I don't, but I still think it was dumb ass decision. DC is never at a loss for words to tell everyone how much the industry and the riders love the Saturday program. Never does he talk about the fans perspective.. Whole industry is full of kissing ass, DC included. So I'm guessing DC talked to the a few riders and some industry peeps, who's running the show? Sounds like the industry is running the show to me. There needs to be a leader who isn't afraid to make a stand on something the industry may not like, DC isn't that guy.

Oh...and the NFL? The owner's vote on practically everything the league does

The owners do vote and there are UNIONS involved to keep everything in check and balanced. MX? Where's the checks and balances???

Still waiting on TV ratings?? DC knows them, why doesn't he share???

Nope, not that core at all.. The other day I happend to catch the 250's, watched a few laps and changed the channel.

I just don't know many young people who are home on Saturday afternoon in the Summer.

Saturday is way better IMO! Every year at Southwick when the race was Sunday all my friends wanted to leave early cause they have to work Monday. Now everyone stays until the end and we end up doing something later at night. I like having Sunday to relax after a long day.

Trip, give it up man, you're sounding like one of those Muppet balcony dudes.

You're worried about the fan? Everyone in this place is a fan (I assume, sometimes I wonder though), and a great deal of them have said they like Saturdays. Right here, in this very thread.

It is impossible to please everybody, and some people will never be pleased...

Can you show me how good the ratings were before it was on tv???. That's cool, you're one guy that doesn't watch it on tv, doesn't go to nationals, and whines on a forum. I'm surprised DC even replies to you. I guess you win, right? Seriously, would a true core fan bitch so much because they race a day early? Would a core fan bitch because you get to see it on tv next day, sometimes live, and first moto's for free online?
Here is you:
I fuckin love barely making it home after a Sunday race.
Fuck that online first moto shit, I like to never watch it.
To hell with that tv next day crap, I like next week, if ever.
I don't care if the riders like it better. Fuck them.
I don't care if, let's say, half the fans like it better.

Saturdays are for the qualifiers, womens mx and extreme thumb-wrestling.

The real pro nationals go down on Sunday.

I'll never believe different, dammit.

Saturdays are SO wrong.

The Institute says it so damn well.

One day, they will listen.

Don't be afraid to learn to read ok... Football doesn't start till September. Are the nationals still going on in September?? (other than Pala) Did they change the NFL schedule to start playing from May-August?? I've been kind of busy so maybe I missed the change in the NFL...

Where did I say it should go up against anything? I've always said Sunday night taped show is the way to go. Get all the good video footage and clean up all the loose ends, present it as a finished product on Sunday evening at the same time every week, when people may actually be home to watch it. Goota be tough to get a new fan base when it's on at different times each week, and on different channels..

As for the ratings, I have no clue, DC could shut my ass up in one post if he posted the great ratings mx is getting and what it used to be. If the ratings were anything to be proud of, we would be seeing press releases don't ya think??

Trip is such a fan he didn't even go to the GP ten minutes from his house (and on a Sunday). All six rounds have been up this year over last, and I imagine Millville's problem last year had a lot to do with a date change after years in August, as well as an abnormally cool July weekend.

The riders do like it, the teams and industry all like it, and contrary to the bullshit that Trip lays out here, the crowds are all up -- even in a bad economy. We did our research, and we are staying on Saturdays. I know some guys don't like it and I am sorry that they have not warmed to the idea, but Its the best way forward, and the riders and teams did have a voice in this decision, and they loudly, clearly like it better.

No I didn't go to the GP. I'm a fan of American mx, I can maybe name 5 riders who race the GP. Plus I didn't have the 400 bucks it would of costed the family and I to camp and be there all weekend.

Funny how quick you are to point out how the crowds are up, but not one mention of the TV numbers?? Why not?

If you did reseach and came to the conclusion that Saturdays were they way to go, you need to fire your research staff.. Riders and teams had a voice in the switch to Saturday, so just fuck the fan huh? I mean it's all about the teams right, who cares what the fans think??? .Keep kissing ass to the industy so you can be the cool guy, no other major sport kisses as much of the industrys ass as mx does, which is a pretty good reason as to why mx will never be a major sport.

You keep saying the crowds are up, but the fans who go to the race who don't make money off of the them keep saying the crowds are down? So who do I believe, the guy whos job it is to sell the product, or the people who have no stake and just making an observation??

You keep saying the riders and the industry like it, but you never say the fans do.. Just read this board, this is your fan base. Go read other message boards. I know your not going to please everyone, but you have pissed off alot of the core fans.

Well said!

Sunday racing?? That means there would be a possible chance that you might get to see some racing on Sat. The old setup was awesome. It was 2 full days of moto. Now its just a crock of dog poopoo. The Nationals are just a support race for Sunday Amateur racing now.

As far as the attendance goes Red Bud will always pull a solid number at the gate. Using the numbers at Red Bud and calling the attendance a success at the other races is like a rider scoring a great moto result and proclaiming a successfull season.
I love that analogy!!!!! So true!! I agree with Trip. Also, I think DC needs to present some facts, or he should stop with the insults to people on here. He is an industry leader, but he acts like a high school punk. Quit chastising everyone who doesn't agree with you. I for one think it makes you look bad.

Many people don't like the new program, and we intend to voice our opinion. Riders are not the ones who pay your bills, although they may in the near future!!
