According to none other than Ben Townley : " And to be honest, the European guys are not as fast; especially over here" Whole ITW here : http://www.racerxonline.com/article/5-minutes-with-ben-townley-7-1-10.a…
I bet some of you will agree, some won't...

And to be honest, the European guys are not as fast; especially over here. Go to Europe and it’s a different story, but here in this really deep dirt, it’s tough.

From a spectators view at the USGP, I thought the GP guys were fast as hell! I Don't think BT101 is giving himself enough credit for his moto win there.

I think BT also had something to prove after the first moto. He was super pumped to win that second moto. I think what Ben says is true, AMA is faster at home and GP is faster at home. In saying that, I think the GP guys have picked it up a lot in the last five years (since BT left) and as we often see the GP guys do really well when on American shores now (Desalle, De Reuver, Swanepoel and more).

Whatever, the World has a lot of fast riders and by saying World I mean AMA and FIM.

Can't wait for the MXoN this year, I think that track won't be as difficult for the GP riders as Budds Creek was.

I for once agree with you Geoff. The big question is who Team USA will send.... Right now, it might be Dungey, Mike Alessi or Andrew Short, and Trey Canard...

but by next month, it could be Dungey, Stewart or Windham, Weimer... the PC bikes are so far up there, they have never lost a moto in five years at Thunder Valley! And if Pourcek rides, plus Rattray, plus Wilson, let alone Marvin Musquin, Jeffrey Herlings and Ken Roczen, wherever Team USA send will have his hands full. Roger DeCoster needs to choose wisely, which he will.

Any way, I still like our chances.

I like your chances too... USA won't be beaten at home i think. And we (= France) won't be able to send our best team once more since CP will probably decline the invitation, and we still miss a top 450 rider. Musquin/Boog (MX1)/Paulin (MX3) is a top 3 team, albeit not a "we can beat the US on their own soil" one! Well, maybe next year...

The MXoN gets getter and better each year, I have to admit, ride quality wise (even without RC, Everts and some of the former legends), this years race is going to be super competative.

That is such a beautiful spot in Colorado, I can't wait to land and enjoy what might be a similar experience to that amazing MXoN in 2007.

Pourcel needs to pull his head out of his and ride, hell, put him in the 450cc class, or Musquin on a 350cc. Pourcel, Musquin and Frossard has a really nice look about it.

Pourcel 450 (trains on it a lot)

Musquin 250

Frossard/Paulin Open (Frossard is in better form atm, Paulin won a moto last year)

This is the only team with a chance to beat the yanks on home soil.

Frossard is too unpredictable for that kind of race. Pourcel already told he WON'T be racing the MXdN... I have to agree your team (with Paulin on a 450) would be awesome, but i won't happen.

One thing for sure, it's gonna be good racing and greater bench racing. As usual, i guess.

I think Boog needs to on your team..... he is very talented. Paulin really has not lived up to his potential yet this year........ Frossard has been faster IMHO..... Musquin, Boog and Frossard.

Paulin is way too big for a 250F. But fits right in on a 450, remember last year. And that 450 Yamaha Rinaldi bike is not too bad.

watching them in Portugal and Spain in person I'm now stuck with Freecaster and lap times to look at but I still think that Boog is proven on the 450..... either way you have a strong team. Sweden will be interesting this weekend.

Yep, you're right : Musquin MX2/Boog MX1/Paulin MX3. That's my pick. I hope O'Robert (our team manager) is reading this... J/k

i think we need very hungry guys, personalities that can produce in times like these, in special occasions. Guys who want to eat the other guys raw. Shorty and TC are very fast and solid right now but for a one time race like the MXdN, it would be good to have characters like Dungey, Grant, Weimer (he's been there, he'll do better at home), Barcia or Tomac (hungry young wolves), Bubba (if he feels good during thee last 3 or 4 rounds of the Nats').

MA has 2 months to get over his health issues and he'd be solid for the team.

It's going to be fun, altitude is going to play a small role.

He kind of implies that by then he should have signed elsewhere so it might be hard to get a new bike all dialled in especially the 450f. But I call BS half the field is signing new deals this year so they should just ride on their 2010 bikes. I'm sure Mitch will let him ride the 250F PC or a 450f kawi that he trains on all the time even if he signed elsewhere.

But my view if we have to beg him or convince him to ride than screw him I prefer to have someone 100% commited.

I would say the altitude will be the biggest issue both for the bikes and the riders.

Geoff Colorado is much more gnarly then Budds Creek it's terrain is different and some of it's deeper but then some of it's hard packed.

GP guy's will be fine, biggest question is what will the weather do.

Leave it to a French guy to quote a guy completely out of context. BT was only saying the GP guys are not as fast on US soil as they are in Europe. He wasn't saying they're slow in general. That's nothing we didn't know to begin with. We all know everyone is faster on familiar tracks. Common sense tells you that.

That was just for the fun of it... I don't care who's faster where, i just love good racing from both side of the pond!
