I have a car that has been sitting for 15+ years in my old nieghbors garage, I actually forgot about it. Anyway the nieghbor passed away and her daughter is selling the place and I need to move the car, what do I need to do,if anything since it has been sitting for so long, it ran well when I put it away. BTW anyone need a 73 VW Beetle!!
Put some fresh gas in it, and jump-start it.
After it warms up a bit, change the oil.
Yes, I put a new battery in it and turned it over just to see if it would, I did not give it a chance to start. I wish I knew how to post pics, no rust and so far only one mouse house in the air filter, it still has the peace sign and roach clip hanging from the mirror!! ( like I said its been 15 years ) for the cost of gas it might be my new daily driver!!

Put some fresh gas in it, hook up your jumper cables, and fire it up. Only think I'd worry about on a VW after sitting that long is the brakes......give them a quick look. Put some air in the tires, and drive it home.
I recently resurrected an old 5-ton to sell for a friend, it's been sitting for 16 years......drained the tank, flushed it, primed the carb......it fired right up and runs great.
Look for roaches under the seats too.
I re-fired my Mach 1 after it sat at my mom's house for 22 years. Pulled the plugs, squirted a little oil in each bore, pulled the carb and rebuilt it, drained the gas (there wasn't any), ran some clean gas through to be sure there were no sediments, changed the oil, checked all the freeze plugs (no need on a VW). After a day or so with the oil in the cylinders put a new battery in and turned it over without plugs to get the oil pumping and broke lose the clutch (it was pretty stuck). I remounted the carb and tested the fuel system (electric fuel pump) for leaks. Topped it with some antifreeze, bled the brakes and, tada, moment of truth.
Sucker fired on about the 5th or 6th revolution. Sahweet!
