Is this real?
No idea if that is real. Does MotoGP really make that much sense for KTM? They make a few streetbikes, but they seem more of a dirt bike company to me. Racing in MXGP, SMX, GNCC, and other offroad racing series seems more relevant in terms od marketing and development.
The majority of KTM's motorcycle sales are street bikes. Their best selling global model is the 390 series RC/Duke (including the popular MotoGP edition).

If they are serious about saving the company and getting banks and others to agree…how can you spend millions on racing?

Guess I shouldn’t be surprised. The street market is exponentially larger worldwide.
A statement I saw today was that 2025 was going forward, 2026 would be easier because development is locked for all manufacturers to allow for investment in the 2027 850cc bikes. This is where KTM is challenged, because that investment is on hold because of financial considerations. This at the time Ducati is king and Yamaha and Honda are moving forward, and Suzuki is threatening a return. What rider would even be interested in KTM, with current ownership, if the next generation GP bike is at a standstill?
I'm actually surprised at the number of KTM road bikes I see over here. Mostly Dukes and the occasional adventure bike, but there's a guy in my neighborhood I've seen riding a plated Husky 300 2 stroke as well.
Moto gp is probably why they are broke lol
I am starting to think what is the point of racing if you are not developing the bike. We may have our answer.
I actually think there is a chance this helps, or doesn’t hurt, KTM MotoGP. Some refinements and riders learning how to get the most from the bike, vice always changing major components, may get them the small amount they need.
