Not going to happen they will stay here to ride nationals. If they don't they will get less sponsors and the American fans that they come to ride for will hate them. We already have a major problem with American riders who only ride SX, so just think what we will do to a Euro who comes over rides the series and leaves. lol I like CP, but if he came and won SX and didn't ride the nationals I wouldn't like him as well. CP also wouldn't have a PC ride if he only did SX.

I disagree

I think people will be more accepting of a rider racing SX and then going to race GP's than a rider who races SX and then rides a couch for 6 months.

As for PC, if one of the Kawasaki teams in Europe have a rider who can win or compete in SX, Mitch will hire them. Mitch wants to win.

But keep in mind, this can create a few contractual conflict issues between various products.

How confusing would it be to the public if Rider X is using Pro-Taper in the US and Renthal in the GP's, and each company is running advertising of Racer X using their product?

Just a couple of points, I think your giving most people to much credit saying they will be accepting, I think it might be better to say they would be oblivious to the fact that they are only riding the SX series. But the hardcore would know and I think they would not support them.
I also understand your point about Mitch wanting to win, but with so many fast up and coming riders why would he choose to spend his time with a person who will only benefit him half the year. As opposed to spending his time and money with a guy who will win both Sx and MX. It does take a lot of time and money getting rider up and running only to have him leave. I think he always has the pick of the lot and will stick with people who are here for the long term. Just my opin.
Like a Josh Hanson you mean.....Believe me, KTM and Suzuki work pretty well together in both AMA and FIM events. The support will be there.

Good point.

Mxgeoff I think we can all agree that Hanson is certainly the exception not the rule. Hanson did a lot of personal lobbying with Mitch to get that deal from what I understand.

Time will tell.

I heard 90% chance is changes. For the GP people it doesn't make any difference. We are happy if they stay here all year. I think it would be the American's loss to not see Roczen and Herlings race SX in America. For us it doesnt really matter.

oh, i agree! i hope they change the rule as we have tons of amatuers here that could do well. and with Ken and herlings expressing so much interest in racing here, our series could continue to grow. heck, maybe they could add a few SX rounds over in Spain, France and England to give the euro fans a chance to witness a true supercross!

Just spoke with Herlings he is interested in doing the same thing as Roczen. Now imagine what this also does to the value of the USGP. These kids will be known in USA come September.

Great news for the sport in Europe.
hopefully they will stay in one piece and be healthy for the GP series when it starts!

This is great news for everyone but without trying to sound like a pessimist, i hope they make it through the SX's in one piece. AMA SX seems to have a high attrition rate for GP riders.
You must of been sleeping through the 2010 SX season. SX has a high attrition rate already. Stewart,Reed,RV,Grant,Short ect.. SX kicks the shit out of the best riders we have racing in the USA right now .

So GP fans should hate Cp, rattray and every rider that is gone to US racing? Thank god we are different from the US fans ur talking about

No loss to me, howerver, I did develop that mindset based on reading the crap that you spew... mxgeoff, for me, You can keep your riders, we have amateurs that are more exciting to watch, thats just me... I'd rather go to L.L. or Canada's Walton event than a G.P. ... It wasn't always that way, but it is now... Based, mostly, on commentary from folks/fans like you...

I posted a video before the USGP where he talked about wanting to race SX (if the age rule changes), and then come back to race GP...so I guess that part's not really news.

I am confused about your take on it, Geoff...at the beginning of the thread you said, "This rocks." And now it doesn't really matter? Wink

Your comparing apples to oranges, yes you should like the guys who used to ride GP and now are in the US. Just as I like Zach Osbourne who now rides GP's and not the nats. Do we have to be so politically correct that we have to root for everyone? I will cheer for guys who ride both SX and MX in the states more than a guy who only rides the sx series only. And if that person is a euro and he only chooses to ride the sx then goes back to do the gps I will not be a fan. Hello?

Why are you twisting the words in his mouth? It rocks that he is able to race both series', and it doesn't matter because there's nothing to lose, bare injury, for the regular GP riders.

Guy B., it's this week's talking points from Geoff's boss, even though this isn't news in that Ken mentioned it a month ago, and his parents want him to stay in Europe and honor his contract with Teka Suzuki for one more year.... I think the kid is doing the right thing, just like Pourcel did in 2007: come here and ride some SX, get a solid deal for the future, go back to Europe and honor your existing contracts, then make your move.

But those parts are not part of this week's talking points that Geoff has to follow. Besides, a journalist would know that this wasn't really news a month ago either, just the nature of modern-day motocross. And until the rule changes, if it changes, it's a moot point anyway, though that won't stop Geoff from doing the job he's paid to do here.

And do you know who is AMA only in 2011? Steve Matthes.

That might be what he is doing but if he can race the whole SX and still race at home, I think GP riders will like that option.

It rocks for American fans, but for me it doesn't matter. Get it??? In the end I would love to see him racing GP's forever, but it is also cool that he races SX.

I can't see how everyone doesn't win here.

DC,

Luckely for me, I am my own boss. It's called Freelance. I love the idea of him racing AMA SX and FIM MX. Not everyone checks in on vitalmx. I like coming here to chat with fellow fans, but to be honest I didn't see the video, and didn't hear it anywhere else about him doing it. And you know what is weird, neither did anyone else at the GP today. It's news here.

I don't understand why there's a waste-of-time thread about something that has been happening since JMB. all riders who dream and plan on coming tirade in the USA do that, come race a few SX a first year, then a full SX season then a full move. others who dream of racing here but are not the best at SX just come and do Outdoors mostly, like Rattray, like Searle.
Guys like Paulin, Musquin, Roczen and Herlings, who have been dreaming if being US champs on day, will come and try it the same way DV or CP did it before them.
nothing "news" here

Well, most people didn't know at the GP. Believe me, I asked probably 10 of the top journalists and also many team managers. it was news to them. Herlings didn't even know the age limit might be changed back. When I told him he was surprised.

Go figure. Maybe we are slow in Europe or something.

really? if the GP's are so great, how come such riders as reed and pourcel choose not to race the USGP on a weekend off? i believe Reed was the one who said that any rider in europe would come to the US if given the oppertunity and how bad it "sucks" to race over in europe..............

Because they had their own championship to deal with. Not everyone over there cares about our Nationals. Supercross is more of a deal breaker.

Then I must be slow, too.
