Hey guys, I'm working on a 1990 KX250. I snagged a Tuf racing neon pink plastic kit for it a couple years ago and I'm now getting started on the build. The bike is all apart and I'll be working on it little by little over the next few months (or longer).
I'll post updates as it comes along, but first I have a question: I'm making my own seat cover. I bought some neon pink vinyl and finished installing it today. The next step is to get the logo painted on there (I got some purple SEM vinyl paint for the job). My question is, can someone with an oem (or even a replica should be fine) seat cover measure the length of the Kawasaki text? I have some 6" decals but they seem a little too short. And also: can someone post a closeup shot of the logo for me? I'll need to trace the background as closely as I can.

Yes! I love the creativity. I had pink side panels on my 89 KX80 back in the day. Looking forward to this!
The seat turned out alright -- here it is with my pink plastics. I'm going to use purple fork guards and anodize/paint some parts purple -- like wheels, hubs, forks, bars... I might end up using some 95 forks/triples I had gotten for this project a while back instead of the stock forks, only because the purple fork guards are made for the newer forks... I could make them work for the 90 forks... but... to be decided.

I'd be happy to work with you on the graphics for this when you get to that point. Designing for this era and theme would be fun.
I've got a 1991 KX125 which I think takes most or all of of the same plastics. Tanks for both are the same part #. But something was weird when I ordered an OEM tank for it off of eBay in like 2003 (so no fakes) because my original tank was leaking. The tank I got for it fits perfectly in every way except for the bolt in the middle of the tank that goes into the frame. It doesn't line up by 1/2 to 3/4 of and inch and I can't get the bolt through. But they are all the same part number today. So I guess you can do 1991 tanks on 1990s but not the other way around. I'm going to have to assume the tank I now have a 1990. It was probably a very long time ago that the 1991 part # supplanted the 1990. The tank/shroud combo I got also had one of those Y2K-era restyle graphics sets similar (but not identical) to what you started with. When I peeled them off last winter I was left with a discolored tank where the graphics were and a bunch of tiny undiscolored dots where the vent holes in the tank graphics were due to fuel exposure. So either the graphics were preventing the fuel from outgassing properly or the glue discolored the tank since there was no glue in the pinholes. Is yours like that? Mine sat so long (since 2004) that when I went back to fix it up in 2022 every bit of fuel had evaporated.
If I remember right the TUF. graphics covered most of the tank. Seems like people today can recreate just about anything graphics-wise.
A few years back Tony Blazier made an Instagram post about the TUF. graphics and plastic kits. It had the pink and blue Kawis in it. I made a comment along the lines of "If you buy these you won't get your contingency money!" since I remember reading the contingency rules in a magazine saying that Kawasaki didn't pay if you changed the color of the plastics. The only person that liked the comment was Kevin Windham. It wasn't later until I read (also in a Tony Blazier article IIRC) about how "money motivated" Kevin was.

I had DM'd Tony to see if he had any photos of pink Tuf builds in his archive so I could get an idea of what direction to go with my build.
I don't really like the green/pink combo. So I'll most likely do the frame in flo pink and get an aluminum tank for it.
But I've already decided on graphics - I'm going to keep the shrouds OEM and probably white # plate backgrounds, so kind of like in the photo on IG.
I think the post I'm referring to had the blue plastic as well and was more like 5 years ago since I don't see my comment on there. The picture was probably from the 1992 season. But the post you linked is a good reference for what you're doing.
