My son and I were able to watch what should have been normal bike prep for Short's bike after the second practice. Somthing in the ignition/fuel injection must have been off as they pulled out most of the electrical system including the magneto.

Once they were able to get the bike to fire they still went ahead to put in a new clutch, oil and tire change and buttoned everything back up. All in about 45 mins. Short then pulls the hole shot and as you know, wins the moto. The last photo is his mechanic who had been working incredibly hard, with the pit board on the final lap.

Great job Honda and Short!!!

Not many people dislike Shorty. No controversy, no drama, no excuses...just the working mans moto dude. Not saying everyone has to love him...but if you can find a reason to hate him yer probably not on a high enough dose of yer meds. I like Mike but he's got....well, let's just say...history.

He won a fuggin' moto by 6 seconds and finished 2nd overall on the day. How is that NOT a great day? Maybe not RC great, but great by just about anyone else's standards (except apparently yours? Are you RC?)

Short won that 1st moto and deserved it! Not sure what happened in that 2nd moto......but he rode very well today!

MA.........I have no idea WTF is going on with that kid. He's fading ( gonna use David bailey's saying here >>>&gtWink like a cheap suit! After that dominating moto he had at hang town , I was thinking he would be in the title hunt. the MA supporters may as well write this year off as well.......the team has some issues going on. Weather it's the bike or Mike himself....who knows....but something aint working right.

The only thing hard about them is their head Jim. They are incapable of recognizing that some folks do things for more than money. They were all probably good at something at one time...sports, music, academics but they were outstripped and outclassed by others with less talent but more desire. They resent this ever present fact in their lives without ever understanding it. I think the medical term for these people is..."@sshole".

Get your strings outta your ass' ladies. I never said anything bad about Andrew. I just find it odd that if the same thing happens to two riders, the spin on it is different.

Alessi drama aside, Mike fades and there are 5 different posts speculating why. Short fades and it was a "Great" day? Really?

After the race, Andrew straight up said that he ran out of gas in moto two. No excuses. Oh, and he did win a moto, and thinks that he has a decent shot at an overall next weekend in CO.

Letting the tracks become and remain gnar (except for the dangerous bits) has caught a lot of riders by surprise this year. I think it's great.

Motocross it what it is.
Motocross is whatever lies ahead.
Motocross is whatever Mother Nature throws at it.
Motocross is man & machine.
Motocross is determination.
Motocross is fitness.
Motocross is tough.
Outside of controllable dangers, which sure the promoters should
fix and always look at, leaving the Worlds tracks ruff-n-tuff is Motocross
isn't it?
And besides, for the promoters it's less tractor time which saves them
doe.
Keep it ruff-n-tuff yet ALWAYS keep it safe.
After all, Motocross it what it is.

If they're surprised, they're not ready & not prepared.
Professional Motocross shouldn't come as a surprise to any out there!
None, except maybe the rookies fresh from amateurs!

Pretty sure Shorty didn't ride up on the podium and claim the overall (without actually winning it) and then talk about how he "demolished everybody"...

If you want to bitch about the podium incident, I'm fine...

Sounds like by that statement some have it out for Mike, which is fine, we all don't have to like everbody, just come clean about it.

It wasn't a debate over anything else other than a fading question. Stay on topic.

Just so were clear...

If rider A is an outspoken rider and he fades, we jump his ass for fading. Call out his bike, him as a person, his dad, whoever is associated with him.

If rider B is a "pc" rider we look the other way about the fade, and say he had a great day.

Got it...My bad....

I'm pretty sure we understood your point the first time around. Now you're just using the same material, like a radio talk show host who has to say the same thing three or four times to pound it into his listener's heads.

I think we got it. Now you're just being argumentative. Bring on some new material.

I understand your point Trip.

Maybe Shorty gets a pass because he's the underdog, and not the favorite. That's my guess.

I respect Shorty a lot...he's a nice guy and one of the best all-around riders (SX and MX) out there...but he needs to develop more of a "killer instinct" if he ever wants to be a champion...I was happy for him in the first moto but totally expected that 2nd moto result when on the podium after the first he shrugged and said something to the effect of, "I don't know I pretty much left it all out there that moto," when he was asked if he thought he could do it again in the second moto....sounded like he was already giving up and "mailing it in" before he ever went to the line for the second moto...
That disappointed me more that anything Mikey said on the podium at Hangtown

Short is one of my favorite riders but IMO he does not have what it takes to win a Title. IMO, Andrew's window has closed. With all of the talent moving up he cannot fade at the 10 min mark of the second moto and expect any team to want to sign him over one of the young guns in the Lites class.

Maybe RC was right about Short to when he said he was not really impressed with his conditioning.

...and you have what it takes? I think he will suprise you in the upcoming races, especially Thunder Valley. He is in it for the long haul, he is the most consistant racer of the last 3 years, bar none.
