How is it for the spectator? I went to Mount Morris last weekend and you can see almost all of the track from different locations. What about Budds Creek?

Last time I was at Budds was for the MXdN in 07. We sat in one place all day, down in the valley in the shade, due to dad's bad leg, and saw most of the race. I wandered a little and saw a bit more.

Get there early and scope it out. You won't be disappointed. Wish I was going this weekend, gotta get back there. I rode my VTX down from NY for the dN, and would love to get out and explore more of the roads down there. I'll be at Unadilla for the LL Regionals this weekend.

Never been to Mt. Morris, but it's a heck of a lot better than Southwick.

If that helps...

Sit up on one of them thar hills near the announcers tower.

Nice poo-rooms on the bottom floor.

Some shade and the scenic view akin to having mirrored shoes around Scarlet

Johannson.

It's perfect, also because it's usually empty. Reminds the USGP as far as attendance...

Budd's is pretty good as you can see most of the track from a couple of key spots.

Here's the trick, if you don't mind some standing and walking.
Go down in the middle of the track layout- beside the lake, where the podium usually is.
That way you can view the start. When the bikes go around to the far side of the track, you can hoof it over the hill to see the other half of the track. And back and forth you go.
All day there is a group of people running back and forth to watch the leaders.
Bring water. You're welcome.

Budds is awesome. Only issue with Budds is the parking and there's really only one road in and out. You'd better prepared for gridlock when you leave.

I watched the MXDN from the hill and liked it. It's one of the best places to see the most action.

If you are picking and choosing tracks where you can watch a lot of the racing, I think Thundervalley and Millville both have great spectating.

There will always be areas you cannot see on any track, but, you get on the hill at Thundervalley and the only thing you don't have a great view of is the very top of mountain after the start.

Not if you take the alternate route.

Go right out of the track when you leave, not left. Make your first left on Route 236. Take it a few miles until you hit the T intersection at Route 5- go left.

Take Route 5 for a good 12-15 miles till (it turns into 228 once you cross 301) until you hit 210 (Indian Head Highway) Make a right and take that to the 495 beltway.

Sounds more difficult than it is. Watch for stagecoaches on 236. Wave to the Mennonites.

Or you can take the right on 301 to get to the Beltway if you want to go East on the Beltway when you get there.

Hope that makes sense. Check the map.

Better route is right but go past 236 and make a left on mechanicsville rd to rt 5 And there will be no back up. Yes it's a few miles longer but you will save a half hor or more.

If your headed south slip over to rt 6 into laplata

Agreed, and I don't know if they fixed it, but the single tunnel to the infield can get really congested. I don't know if it's an issue for the National, this will be my first one there, but for the MXdN it was bad enough for ppl to just say "screw it" and walk right over the track.

ahh nice. I was planning on making a right out of that parking lot and just winging it with the GPS haha. When I was there for MXdN we sat forever.

At Dilla you can do the same thing, you hang a left out of the parking lot roll down make a right, end of the road make another right, and there is a county road that runs parrallel to the road everyone takes in. Of course you miss all the killer Up Staters sitting on their porch staring at everyone driving by, but you bypass all the traffic, and can pop back out once you're past town.

The top of Henry hill is the best spectating spot on the track as you can see 95% of the track from there.

The seafood restaurant is called Captain Billy's. Anybody down there can help you find it.

Do the bathrooms at the top of the hill near the pits still say "Budd's Creek Motorcross"?

There are a few restaurants on solomons. Try Stoneys or Kingfishers. Great seafood and crabs. Some of the best around.

The tunnel will be nothing like the MXDN. At the MXDN the geniuses decided to rope off half the track and force thousands of people through a ten foot wide tunnel. We sat there for 40 minutes.
The way they treated the crowd at the MXDN was ridiculous. I still get mad thinking about it. It will be interesting to see what it's like in Colorado this year.

There are/were 2 tunnels at Budds. There is a 2nd tunnel at the top of Big Gulp that was not widly used by the spectators so you could walk right threw it.

There are 3 good sea food restaurants in the area. Capatain Billys and Pier 7 are right next to each other.

There is another on the corner of Morganza Turner Rd and 234 that is a much less waiting time to be seated.

Way to give up all the secret exits Moto-E & Lumpy...traitors. Next thing ya know all the Budd's Creek secrets will be out, like parking at the Wicomico Golf Course and sneaking in free through the woods. Joking of course...
