Adam. No dis here. If you re-read that you may see that I'm pointing out both sides of the story. I'm not really saying the bike is under powered. Actually, I'm only paraphrasing what the "haters" are saying in regards to the power. Looking at the big picture, maybe Ryan Dungey needs to take the KTM for a few laps. He seems to be the man right now. Then we would know whether the bike is the problem. Honestly, kudos to KTM for having the balls to go down the road less travelled. I actually owned an 03 525SX and absolutely HATED IT! Worst bike I ever owned.Awesome power but that was it. Wouldn't turn, suspension sucked, couldn't slip the clutch more than twice and it started to overheat. Absolutely would NEVER own one again. Still, I support KTM's approach. They are less concerned with the bottom line than the Big Four. Look at the model line-up they have. They are investing in the sport.

the rules hop around here like me taking a shower.
Nothin left to be said on this subject til next race. One race did not make it the best bike ever and one race did not make it the worst.

But Bobby's last line make me lol.

You make a valid point adam. Their bikes probably have come a long way. I think MXA picking it as the Bike Of The Year says it all. ( EZ guys lets not start a war over THAT. Its just to make a point) Having said that, it was an INCREDIBLY bad experience owning that bike and I just won't own another. Because they're not the bike for ME. Doesn't mean they don't have a place in the market. Myself, I'm going back to 2-strokes. Have a 500AF in the works because the old steel frame is 1989 at its finest and this is 2010. Also have a 93CR250 I bought for nostalgia and just LOVE the motor. Have 07 450 RMZ forks on it (don't ask) and will make the maiden voyage on it this weekend in its present form. Booyah! I'm old and I only ride for fun. Don't even race. The 4-stroke revolution is over for me. (Again, lets not start a war guys. Just my take on things.)

4 stroke revolution? Yeah i have been getting the 2 stroke itch myself, seriously considering a 2011 KTM 250 SX or 150SX!...love my kawi 250F though so its going to be a tough choice....

I owned a KTM in 2008 and the quality was second to none so i won't mind going back, if i do..

Adam if you are goin for all out horsepower in a 2-stroke, sounds like the KTM 250 is the way to go. Word is that dealers can't keep them in stock. An incredibly popular machine. The 2-strokes are just more fun to ride. Maybe the 4's are easier to go fast on, but not as much fun. Want a thrill? Go charging into a big sandy left-hand berm on a 500 and pull the trigger . No thumper can match that kind of ride. Please feel free to be pointed EXACTLY in the direction you want to go and be sure it doesn't include trees. I'm out, been a 19 hour day. Cheers lads!

Why would they have no other choice? What makes you think that? Because of their market share or their technical knowledge?

Please explain

Amazing this thread. The other day I was practicing with my new CRF450, and this S.O.B on a SXF250 (without linkage) from 08 passed me easily...

Shouldn't happen?

99,9% of us are worse less on the track meaning bike means shit, the rest 0,01% who actually notice the difference have people helping them out, just like when the people managed to fix Stewarts KX125 to such a high standard that he managed to pass ALL the 250Fs during 02, 03, 04, or how they managed to fix RCs CR250 that made him go 24-0 against 450Fs...

But I guess we need something to talk about? Smile

I rode the 350 at the KTM press presentation in Spain (Europe, for people wondering where Spain is...). This thing is so good in bone stock version, can't imagine how it is with factory treatment. But it is the bike i'd like to have in my basement. As for Mike, his problem is more mental than mechanical, i guess. Just my 2 cents.

The Doc knocks it out of the park! Basically, it comes down to the rider,no matter the level of talent. I've been beaten by guys on 125's while on a 500. Cuz I'm old, I'm slow and I suck. Still love the big bore though and not giving it up. To be a winner you just have to go faster than everyone else. Machinery not withstanding. You want to beat a thumper when you are on a 2-stroke? Twist the damn throttle harder and leave it on longer! It ain't rocket science. At the pro level that will start to be a little less relevant but for the rest of us...

In Bubbas case, it would be 90% rider and 10% bike...Laughing

And...I can promise you, Mike would LOVE to be on that Suzuki right now. I'm gonna have to corner Goose at Washougal on Friday about that story...Wink

Time will tell, as KTM is always looking to improve their bikes to suit the needs of the riders. Some people always think when someone approaches things from a different angle it is wrong (I call it narrow minded). Ofcourse when their product is still in it's 'childhood years' failures can happen. But from an engineering point of view it is a step in the right direction. You also have to consider the motives of KTM to develop a 350cc motorcycle. They still stand. Of course narrow minded people will jump on any situation to critisize this new concept.

You have to remember, only about 1% of all motocrossers ride professionally. And of those 1% only a very few guys can ride a 450 to it's full potentional for a full moto. So because 99% of all motocross riders are amateurs they still produce en develop two-strokes (which is keeping the sport alive for a whole lot of individuals) and they have an option for a 350 and a 450. It think it will be only a matter of time before KTM will have the biggest market share in the motocross market.

No, I do not have stocks from KTM and I do not own or want to sell a KTM. I ride a Suzuki RM250.
