Anyone ever had issues getting one of these to seat properly?
Rebuilt my caliper and got new spring plates but it seems as though when I get everything back together this plate comes unseated, causing the outside brake pad to not return properly. (Or is the brake pad not supposed to return with the piston?)
Bled the brakes, and they operate properly (or what seems to be properly) other than the outside brake pad rubbing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Take needle nose pliers and bend In the tabs that hold the clip in position.
Yes indeed this. That little spring should stick to the top of the caliper as shown here https://youtu.be/I-77hf-Y9W0?t=247
I sometimes get confused on which direction this goes in....have you confirmed that it is the correct direction? If yes...i would take it apart and clean it. the tabs that grip the brake can bend on installation....you can bend them back as suggested by one of the others.....
Good call on bending them. I just bent them slightly and it stayed in place enough for me to get the pads in without it moving.
I’ve never installed one before and in my head, it should have fit in there tighter with a more positive “click”. It seems as though the plate needs the pads to stay in place just as much as the pads need the plate. Took it for a couple of laps around the block, being somewhat hard on the rear brake and it is working great.
Thanks for the help!
