Obviously it would have been nice to get more people out there. I expect that there will definitely be a better turnout next year.

Marvin Musquin is a good rider and his bike is insane. He was getting up those hills faster than anyone else and was holeshotting by 4 bike lengths. I would say that he also had the fortune of getting the holeshot while his main competition were midpack.

Herlings is fast but made a bunch of mistakes.

Roczen didn't have as much raw speed as I expected.

Ben Townley was very fast in the first moto but went down a couple of times (the first after he passed Mike). I think he would have probably made a run at Cairoli. He just flat kicked ass in the second moto. He will win nationals this year.

Alessi was a bit of a disappointment for me. I expected him to go 1-1 at Glen Helen to be honest. It was obvious that his bike wasn't as fast as Cairoli's and he was the only one I could see that was struggling to get everything he could out of the 350 when going up the hills. He also seemed to get hung up in the corners a lot when racing against Cairoli.

Clement Desalle is a beast. His riding style is very cool to watch and had the best line going around Mt. Witney. He probably would have been in it for the overall if he got a better start in the first moto.

Cairoli is the real deal. He isn't a James Stewart kind of talent but he is definitely the best GP rider. I think his bike has a few more works parts than Mike's but he is smart, fast, and fit on the track.

Im sure Mike wanted to ride his AMA bike which has different limits as far as works parts than the GP bikes. Not that it is an excuse but it is what it is.

If I see MA more worried about who's behind him than who's in front of him one more time, I call it a career. You can't think about anything but getting to your next mark as fast as you can. In fact, that means, by definition, you're riding and not thinking at all. Which means you're lapping it as fast a you can.

Switch the brain off, Mike. Just flow.

Agree with you on most of those points.

Yes, Marvin's bike was crazy fast. Both KTMs were at least a bike length ahead at the start. Keep in mind that the CLS kawasakis are full Pro Circuit bikes too.

Roczen did really well coming up through the pack and I think he was the only guy upset about the early ending to moto two because he was catching up to the group in front of him. He crashed on the start both motos and still did very well.

Townley was really fast but didn't LOOK that fast. His style is so smooth taht he looked to be cruising through the rough sections.

Biggest disappointment was Alessi fading back. He was bragging last week about how he didn't get tired and it was obvious in the second moto that he was out of gas.

Cairoli really really impressed me. He rode a smart race and seemed unfazed by the heat and rough track.

Desalle = heart. He fought for that second spot and deserved it.

Overall, fantastic race. Glad we got to watch it on tv, and I'm sure it'll pick up steam. Maybe next year they can schedule it before the nationals instead of the 4 stroke nationals. With a year of planning, some teams might be able to build it into their budget.

X2. Pretty much what I saw.Townley's bike look noticeably faster than the 350s to me.

Alessi had some horrible lines that really cost him. Coming off the highest part of the back REM track he kept losing time on a middle line off the top with a big kicker in it. Even when he saw the smooth outside line others were railing he didn't use it. Then at the very bottom where the REM track hooks back into the Nat track there was that thythm section of doubles that he just never seemed to get right.

Bummer for Nagl when he passed Mike there and then he got absolutely screwed by the fence webbing getting tangled all throughout his bike. The poor guy was trying to pull out wooden stakes that were completely wedged between the tire and swingarm amid all the tangled webbing. Only way to clear that rubbery plastic webbing crap out in a timely fashion is with a really big, really sharp knife. Of course, the average track worker isn't packing a full-on Rambo knife.

Not sure what the deal was with Cairoli's "pauses" at times but he was fast and smooth. BT looked good all though he kinda messed up his first moto with crashes. Didn't see a single incident all day off the supposed "Triple Stepup of Doom" other than the Russian? guy #77 doing a slow-motion over-the-bars at 5 mph when he doubled it in practice. lol

Great day of racing, great weather ... and the sparse crowd made for perfect viewing access everywhere. I like the earlier start time and the way they keep the program moving ... but WTF is up with that 30 second burst of Euro disco that signals the start of each moto???

In the second moto, Mike actually had a good line coming down that section on the inside but he wasn't good in the left turn going into the double section. He also stopped using Desalle's outside line going through the rollers and it cost him big time.

And LMAO at the euro disco comment.

They used to use ACDC Hells Bells for about 4 years. When you heard the bells and then the bikes rev up with all the air horns, the hairs on the back of your neck would stand up! With the Gay Euro Dance, not so much

your comments about mike are spot on. that rythem section he looked horrible and had alot of mistakes and bad line selection. it shold have been obvious when tony was pulling away and townley was catching up and he still didnt change things up. he still did well but you could see alot more potential. carioli rode smart. i really think roczen could have made a race with marvin if he could have started with him

Cairoli's "pauses" in moto one were because his shift lever fell off and he was stuck in third gear for the last several laps!

Yeah, I saw that inside line work the one lap when he got DeSalle? there. Mikey put on a pretty good charge and got up to 2nd and then ???? But overall he always seemed to be losing time off that rough top middle line and then the rhythm section below.

Hottie action? I was expecting more in the hot weather. We cruuised the entire track and pits and I saw some but was expecting a lot more. Maybe I missed the good stuff?

On the other hand there were def a lot fewer Ftards there .... and I didn't see a single Bum Fight.

There you go!

http://www.supercross.com/race-results/fim-world-motocross-race-results…

The first MX1 race was the most exciting race of the day - World Motocross Champion Antonio Cairoli from Italy won a great battle with Mike Alessi, who ultimately would finish second in the moto and second overall on the day. Tony was leading much of the race, but slowed briefly, and Mike Alessi went into the lead momentarily. Tony was motioning to his pit area when he came by that something was wrong with the bike - and if you look at one of the photos of Tony below - you'll see his shifter came off! He still passed Mike Alessi back, rode the final laps of the race entirely in third gear - and won! Belgium's Clement Desalle finished third overall. Results below.

I think old man time has taken a hold of Seb, with the injury and a slow comeback and no chance for a title again this year, the burning desire fades and so it goes. He was a major contender and a power to be reckoned with and the inconsistency seemed to start after the Pourcel family team started it`s break apart

I remember back from the Florida Winter AMA in 1979 in Orlando, Boo Stricher lost the shifter on his KTM 490 and was stuck in 3rd gear, just totally smoked everyone in the moto.

It´s commercial dance music, and the song was popular in 2000, and they STILL play it. I heard it yesterday too, thinking "that´s embarrassing, we´ll never hear the end of it"

However, I have been listening to live audiofeeds from AMA nats were they in between adds, play Disturbed and various other bands with mental diseases - which I wouldn´t wwant to expose my kids to either

do you think maybe alessi struggles a bit with line choice sometimes, because he doesn't trust himself because he might get hammered if he makes the wrong decision by someone? and every decision is taken out of his hands so when it comes to making a decision he can't.. obviously this isn't all the time, because he is obviously super fast ...

maybe

that's about as non committal as i can get
