Luca Salvadori was killed in a crash while racing in Germany, his youtube channel had offered a lot of behind the scenes insight into racing.
Road racing is so, so dangerous. If you make a mistake, you’re probably going to die. Almost no money in it, the guys who race do so for the love of it. One of the last true sports. RIP Luca 🕊️
Not to take away from Luca's passing (RIP), but actual road racing, yes (Isle of Man). Closed-course road racing, no. Tons of run-off, protection getting better, bikes getting safer with electronics, and the tracks are relatively predictable. I never had a serious injury road racing, but definitely had some riding and racing MX. Danger is still there though, just like anything.
one of the most genuine dude's I've ever came across in Motorsport. Work with his family's team in open-wheel for a bit, always blew my mind how instinctive he was to 2 over 4 wheels. He was a funny dude for sure, this one sucks.
There was also a death up in Michigan (racing) this weekend. That plus that horrifying crash at the beginning of the F2 race in Baku, it was a dark weekend.
Yes, I meant true road racing. Luca passed away during an IRRC event on public roads

I think comparing your experience in road racing to your MX experience holds zero weight in regards to the severity of professional closed course motorcycle racing.
